1. An English study found no reduction in Green house gases due to the need to keep base load power plans idling. When wind power was not available the base load plants would need to fill the demand and a base load plant cannot just 'start up' at a moments notice.

2. If you are going to build, staff, fuel and maintain base load power plants which will produce a lower level of output, the cost per KW will skyrocket.

The dolts at our public electric utility keeps promising that they are on the road to using 100% renewable energy from wind power. They claim it will save us all kinds of money. *sigh*
