RNC chair on controversial Trump video: 'Good people are trying to come into the country, too'
CNN ^ | 11/03/2018

Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel declined on Sunday to address an incendiary immigration video shared last week by President Donald Trump, instead saying that, "we know good people are trying to come into the country, too."

The online video, which was tweeted by Trump last Wednesday, accuses Democrats, without evidence, of plotting to help people it depicts as Central American invaders overrun the nation with cop killers.

"Listen, we know good people are trying to get into this country, too. They see the prosperity, they see the economic growth," McDaniel told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."

"They're coming to this country because they see it as a beacon of hope. We need to find a legal way to get people here, we need to find a way to fix our immigration system. Democrats won't work with us," she said.

The web video -- produced for the Trump campaign -- features Luis Bracamontes, a Mexican man who had been deported but returned to the United States and was convicted in February in the slaying of two California deputies.

"I'm going to kill more cops soon," a grinning Bracamontes is shown saying in court as captions flash across the screen reading, "Democrats let him into our country. Democrats let him stay."

McDaniel told Tapper that by sharing the video, the President was simply trying to bring attention to Bracamontes' story.

"I think the President's highlighting the point once again that we don't -- and I think everybody agrees with this, Jake -- we didn't want this individual in our country," she said.

"We don't want people being deported and being criminals and then coming back into this country."

The group shown here was given false promises of a quickie entry by operators. Is there any way to show mercy on any of them at all, while cracking down on those operators? Which ones of them, under other circumstances, would have been willing to enlist and wait? Collaborate with the Red Cross or similar organization to make the best of this messy situation?

That would be a God-grade move. Everything else here is mere mortal-grade, driven by spite vs. spite.

There’s a point where Trump has to mean it when he talks up the Christian way of doing things... or take his ball and go home.

Dems should start leaving their doors open to street people just to prove us wrong.

No argument on that, but you are not following the subject of the thread.

The video Trump posted cannot possibly be called “Controversial.”

As has been sadly the case up to this minute, you talk in terms of grandiose condemnation. No discussion can be had with you. My comments are mere warnings to others who would otherwise get pulled down your rabbit hole.

Ronna Romney McDaniel, another turncoat, or merely incompetent? If the illegals are just allowed in, unvetted, then what? Stupid, she should be fired this coming Friday.

GOOD people would respect our laws and come in LEGALLY.

Above includes chain migration immigrants, most are law abiding, and come in legally. However a huge chunk are seniors who can collect social security and medicaid even though they never paid a dime in taxes in US. And many other younger folks have few skills and no wealth.

All immigration should be either merit or wealth based, which is what New Zealand & Australia are doing. Their problems with immigrants are 1% of ours.

Who’s assuming “unvetted”?

The group you are talking about is known to have been paid to participate. They had to suspect what was going down.

BS There is a way for people to come here legally now. Many choose to come here illegally. Those who come here illegally need to stop, the good people do it the right way.

It is not possible for us to accept everyone into this country that wants to come here. We have every right to set the rules for people to qualify to come here. Those that choose not to follow the rules need to turned back at the border if possible and deported ASAP if they manage to make it in illegally.

Many of my murdered relatives applied to emigrate to the USA the correct way but they didn’t make it BECAUSE THEIR GOVERNMENT KILLED THEM before they were approved.

“Good” has a scale of degrees. If you want a better opportunity and you sneak in where you don’t belong in order to get it, in my opinion, that is a lot LESS GOOD than all the Jews petitioning desperately to come here during the Holocaust, waiting for official channels, but dying at the hands of their government in the meantime. Or is it just me?

I'm sure there are. Just don't try and do it illegally please.

I get tired of hyped headlines\clickbait, too.

You have to laugh when reading about how some commentator “demolished,” “humiliated” or “destroyed” some other commentator on a political show. Looking at the videos there is seldom if ever anything of the sort.
