This story came out earlier this week but it was shocking enough that it bears a look. The transgender activist community was all abuzz on Thursday over a letter that had actually been featured in the New York Times a week earlier. Buzzfeed picked it up and ran with it, adding to the celebratory mood. The document in question was an open letter published by a gaggle of 1,600 scientists who are rejecting the anticipated HHS memo defining sex and gender in traditional, scientifically accepted terms for purposes of Title IX questions.
What’s truly amazing is the fact that these supposed pillars of the scientific community are calling on the Trump administration to reject such notions and formulate a policy which is more scientific and ethically based. (This Hill)
The memo states that any disputes about a persons sex would be clarified using genetic testing, which scientists who signed the letter called unscientific and unethical.
This proposal is fundamentally inconsistent not only with science, but also with ethical practices, human rights, and basic dignity, the scientists wrote.
Among the signatories are eight Nobel laureates.
The letter emphasizes that both biological sex and gender are on a spectrum and are not clear cut.
For a document supposedly written by scientists, the arguments being put forth sound suspiciously unscientific. Like many in the social justice warrior club, the authors are claiming that centuries of established medical science are simply wrong. Fair enough. If you’re a scientist it’s your job to reexamine the data and provide new information as it is revealed through research. But that’s the problem. By their own admission, these scientists are signing onto a document which states they can’t prove what they’re saying. Here’s one example:(Emphasis added)
Though scientists are just beginning to understand the biological basis of gender identity, it is clear that many factors, known and unknown, mediate the complex links between identity, genes, and anatomy.
So you don’t understand it yet. And you’re leaning on factors both known and unknown. What kind of research is this? Did it involve a deck of tarot cards? Here’s another one:
Mollie Manier, an assistant professor of biology at George Washington University and one of the coauthors of the letter, told BuzzFeed News, The science on gender is very much still in development, but more importantly, the lived experiences of transgender and intersex people should not be co-opted by a genetic test.
You’re basing your conclusions on science that’s “in development” and rejecting what we already know in favor of “the lived experiences” of people.
The authors go on from there to adopt a favorite trick of activists and attempt to conflate the conditions displayed by the tiny fraction of the population with legitimate intersex traits caused by genetic anomalies (a completely valid topic) and all of the people who just really, really, really feel like they were born in the wrong body. Granted, some men produce more or less testosterone than others. That doesn’t make the ones producing less women. Ditto for females and estrogen levels.
What we’re seeing here is the downstream effects of the corruption of the educational system by liberal politics. As schools are overrun by social justice warriors and those controlling the flow of grant money bend to liberal demands, we’re seeing this nonsense now being passed off as science. And as it bleeds over into other areas, everyone in society will be paying the price for it.
As the nurse said in High Anxiety: “we’re dealing with some deeply disturbed people here.”
This is Lysenkoism.
to their core...
.
We’re obviously using a very loose definition of ‘scientist.’
By this definition, a kid playing with M-80s that blows his fingers off is a research pyrologist!

Been weeks since I’ve dreamed of werewolves or had unexplained sharp pains in the neck....

Above is a petition to the American Academy of Pediatrics in response to their new policy that any child or young adult that self-diagnosis themselves to be of the other sex should be affirmed in their transition including non-FDA approved drugs and medical procedures.
I have no doubt that something is going on with these kids. Most of them now are girls, and their idea of becoming a man comes on very quickly. (Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria - ROGD).
Studies indicate it may be a social contagion - like anorexia. But obviously it is rooted in mental development, and in most cases is probably not a biological problem that can successfully be treated with drugs and surgery.
The petition is just getting started. They are hoping for 1200 signatures - just 500 now.
So sad that our kids are going through this with just a rubber stamp of approval by the industry.
Taking the word “scientist” back to its etymological root, we find the Latin form “scientes,” which means “the knowing ones, or “people knowing.” So, these guys can still call themselves “scientists,” but feel no need to use scientific method, to do any experiment, or seek anyone else’s proofs about their hypotheses. They just know.... That’s more than enough to be held in esteem, if you’re willing to jump on the bandwagon of feelings, rather than of real scientific proof.
If I were a lab manager and saw one of my people on this list I would fire him or her immediately. Obviously can’t be trusted to do real science.
Title 9 means nothing to biologic females if anyone can claim the benefits. I have mixed feelings about that.
count yer blessings
How did these scientists come to be less educated than the average 3rd grader?
Your “21 years old” comment re: guns made me see if you were in Washington state. We have a ballot measure to make it 21 years old to purchase an “assault weapon” - which includes any semi-automatic weapon that can fire more than 10 rounds I think, or can accept a magazine of such. So a kid can’t even purchase a tube-fed .22 plinking rifle or many styles of hunting rifles.
There are 30 pages in the law - and it includes all sorts of other BS such as “safe storage”, mandatory safety classes every 5 years to buy a firearm (even if you are 50 years old and own 20 guns - you can’t buy another one without a class within the last five years!).
I’m guessing that the mob rule of Seattle will pass it, just like they do all of the other liberal laws and politicians.
But if you want to “change your sex” at the age of 16- that’s okay.

...... Truth ....
Truth. The founder of the Weather Channel explained this simple fact to Brian Stelter when he trotted out the "99.9% of all scientists agree that global warming..." canard. 99.9% of all scientists want to keep their funding!
Today what is called "science", is not about real science but it has devolved into a religion with its own priesthood & dogmas. When the peer review boards are filled with those who enforce the Politically Correct views that they have enshrined as their gospel, good luck on advancing your career or trying to get any articles that disagree with the Establishment past them. They eventually fall into the demise of the fatal "group think" as any rebels or dissenters are ejected, but real science is being suppressed.
Even though they now enjoy almost unlimited funding & tenure, they feel secure in their careers & funding they feel that they have arrived, when in fact they have just died! So instead of the advancing of real science as the goal, their love of money, power & position quickly kills that once noble desire.
Even my roosters can tell the difference between the other roosters and the hens, and my bull out in the pasture sure as hell knows the difference between a cow and another bull.
SURPRISE, SURPRISE; MY CHICKENS AND CATTLE ARE SMARTER THAN THESE SCIENTISTS!!!!!!
