This week, icy blasts of change swept two continents.
As unseasonably early winter storms dumped heavy rain and snow across Europe, Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, effectively stepped down as the leader of her party and irreparably weakened her ability to keep Europe on an even keel.
That very same day, Brazil elected a far-right leader who is even Trumpier than US President Donald Trump.
He believes Brazil's military regime, which ran the country in the 1970s and 1980s, didn't kill enough of its opponents and wants guns in the hands of citizens. "Weapons defend our freedoms" was a campaign cry.
His arrival and Merkel's slow shuffle to political oblivion are not happening in isolation: The world is changing, and this week ruled out a reverse.
We are watching, aware of what's happening, but without seeing a way to hold it back.

“On a lighter note, People magazine voted him [Nic- the author] Sexiest News Correspondent in 2001.”
Like the incompetent lying leftist he is, Robertson conveniently forgot to tell the readers that Angela Merkel was an East German Communist before she had her “conversion” (if it was real).
She was definitely destructive of the old, positive German culture, religion, and national self that sprung up after the end of WW2.
She now has more Turkish citizens in Germany than many countries around the world have people. If Turkey goes “south” and becomes an ally of Russia or Red China, or Iran, what is Germany going to do with a 5th Column (re conflicting loyalties) of up to 7 million people? Evict them?
Islam spreads by conquest, trade, and emigration. Germany is one of its most successful efforts, with England and France, then Sweden and the Netherlands, not far behind.
Great map.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Or - in this case - 300,000 homicides.
Yeah, it explains a lot of things.
I just looked it up. Sometime next week there will be a low of 17 F in the suburbs. “Normal” low is 27F. Last year the low was 21F.
Being a part-time climatologist myself (mostly looking out the window to see if it is raining) - the data indicates that 2019 will have one of the lowest lows yet of 13 F on Nov. 9th.
Does this sound like somebody who is confident of a blue wave on Tuesday?
Themselves.
I just love the democrats anguish...God forgive me...
This entire piece sounds like something blathered after a 4th scotch at a DC cocktail party
Oh no, a candidate more Trumpian than Trump who wants weapons in citizen’s hands...Quick David AttentionHogg, go there and tell them guns are bad...(and stay there!!)
Good morning, CNN! Is this a recent epiphany?
You know NOTHING!!
Global WARMING leads to GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE leads to HURRICANES AND TORNADOES leads to the STATUE OF LIBERTY BEING UNDER WATER leads to OUR CHILDREN NEVER SEEING SNOW AGAIN
which leads to AN UNSEASONABLY EARLY WINTER IN EUROPE
I hope I’ve made myself clear :)
Gets a D for class
And an A Plus for making me laugh out loud :)
Since 80 percent of my posts are F’s in class, I can’t talk.
Thank you, CNN, for the laugh. I am really enjoying your misery. I hope Tuesday evening finds you in tears and uncontrollable sobbing...
I thought he was talking about how there is a new rise worldwide in nationalism and resistance to the globalism he and the rest of the MSM have been pushing.
heh heh heh heh

As for weather, it will always be good and bad. Don't live 50 feet from the ocean or in a valley that always floods unless your house is on stilts. Don't live near forests that are not properly managed.
