Gov. Rick Scott declared victory Tuesday with a slim 0.68 percentage point win over U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, who conceded even though his campaign raised issues with ballot counting in several South Florida counties.
Nelson advisor Dan McLaughlin told supporters at Nelsons election night event at the Embassy Suites in Orlando that the campaign had concerns about ballot counting in several south Florida counties.
But just after midnight, the Nelson campaign said he would concede.
This is obviously not the result Senator Nelson's campaign has worked hard for, said Pete Mitchell, Nelsons campaign manager. The senator will be making a full statement tomorrow to thank all those who rallied for his cause.
Shortly before midnight, Scott talked to his supporters in Fort Myers, who were chanting Senator Scott, Senator Scott.
Its hard to believe were here tonight, he said. This campaign is behind us and thats where were going to leave it.

No recount.
Nelson is conceding before he isn’t.
Did he call Gov. Scott and tell him not to act all uppity about it?
That’s good. Too bad it wasn’t a House seat though.
Correct...Nelson is gone.
Is the recount mandatory? Can Nelson say don’t bother?
I’ve lived in Florida for over 24 years and I can’t name a single political accomplishment of Nelson other than having got elected to office.
Dont get too excited. My bet is Nelson conceded because the uniparty doesnt want to give anyone the excuse to examine how the voting went down. Those voter rolls need to be gone through with a fine toothed comb before 2020.

I well remember the 2016 vote when Jill Stein requested a recount in certain states. The recount rapidly unearthed over-voting (more votes cast than persons registered) and other irregularities. The recount was rather quickly abandoned to hide the shenanigans.
It is.............
He’s been a back bencher his whole career...............

Nelson is done. Put a fork in his cadaver ass.
There aren't enough out there today...wait a couple days until Broward finds uncounted precincts.
is this 53 votes or 54?
Can somebody provide a link to a reliable source reporting that Nelson has actually conceded?
I searched but couldn’t find one.
Thanks.
That’s from last night.
Better check the Supervisor of Elections Office.
A former SOE was fired by the governor for having uncounted ballots in her office................
Because of the margin there will be an automatic machine recount.
Way to go Florida...
Yes, any less than 1% automatically gets a recount.............
It was updated. He’s gone. Try and keep up.
