Good riddance. You little evil elf.

I will look forward to the declassification of the FISA documents and the publication of the empty Russia report before Shiff takes over.

From another thread...but a really good set of suggestions.

  1. Now Trump should fire Rosenstein. Trump should recess appoint a bulldog, a fighter, a person who doesn't want a Beltway career, and who is willing to make the tough calls the way that Sessions wouldn't. Somebody outspoken, like Jeanine Pirro who appeared on stage with Trump, might be a good choice. This appointment would expire at the end of 2019, so would be immune to Senate interference for the duration.
  2. Trump should nominate a replacement for Rosenstein through the normal Senate process. Let the Senate Republican Judiciary Committee members like Lindsey Graham have a platform to counter House Democrats investigating Trump, like Maxine Waters, Adam Schiff, and Jerry Nadler.
  3. The new Attorney General should immediately take control of the Mueller investigation, demanding an immediate briefing by Mueller, and potentially shutting down the investigation outright. Let the 55 Republicans in the Senate deal with Democrat howls of obstruction, since 2019 is going to be about all-out war with the Democrats. It's best in the short term to take this weapon off the table now. The new Attorney General can also take a harder line on illegal immigration actions to counter Democrat obstruction of border security.
  4. In 2020 when the recess appointment expires, Trump can formally nominate a permanent Attorney General and give Republicans another Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing to campaign from going into the 2020 election. Set the Democrats up for a repeat of their 2018 performance and show voters again what their choices are.

I agree, except I think Trump should recess appoint someone like Joe DeGenova that the Swamp will really HATE when the Senate is forced into recess.

Then name his real pick when they reconvene. If they won’t confirm they can stick with the guy they really hate.

Shep Smith and Joseph Napala-jerk-tano are giddy and apoplectic at the same time. They are seeing impeachment scenarios, etc.

I’m guessing this had something to do with the dems taking the house.

Likely more to do with the increase in pro-Trump Senate wins and only marginal Democrat takeover of the house.

“My one serious criticism of Trump is that his transition was a bit of a fustercluck. I was expecting a much stronger team and a much more vigorous ground game when it came to firing people.”

Chris Christie was in charge of the transition team. Christie dropped the ball and did not have nominees vetted and ready to be presented the day after the election. Likely he assumed Trump could not win.

No worries mate. It’s good stuff and would make a hell of a battle plan. Someone should get it to The Donald. If they haven’t already got it in the works. Get the popcorn!

That's an interesting play. I hadn't thought of that, but I like it for hardball to get who he really wants.

On the other hand, as I suggested up-thread, to get someone truly effective in this role, he would need someone who doesn't want a long Beltway career, because of the long knives from the Democrats. That's why I kept the appointment for the entire year. Then use a true confirmation in 2020 at the start of the election season to launch the campaign.

Then, let the friendly Senate confirm the vacating AG to an appellate court for a lifetime job. This way, we won't have an AG who becomes timid by constantly looking over his shoulder for threats to his future career.

Qidiots probably still think this is part of 8D chess.

I think it's finally clear that those of us pushed back against the Q-crap were correct thinking Q followers were most likely a special kind of stupid - the kind that are cult-like followers of make-believe, fairy-dust rather than reality's signposts.

Yeah that makes more sense.

I keep mistakenly thinking in terms of 30 seats or ADVANTAGE

I dont even know the final number right now.

What is their majority?

Honest, it seems like anything under 30 or 40 isn’t solidly safe.
