Rep. Karen Handel (R-Ga.) conceded Thursday in her tight House race in an Atlanta suburb to gun control activist Lucy McBath (D).
The victory puts the Georgia district in Democratic hands more than a year after the party fell short last year in a heated special election that drew national attention. Handel ended up winning by about five points over Jon Ossoff.

Stop and think about it. What did Paul Ryan do to help Republicans in the mid-term elections. Did anyone ever hear or see Ryan campaigning? Barnstorming? Fundraising? Leading?
Nope. Paul Ryan may a conscience decision to do little or nothing and did little or nothing.
What Paul Ryan didn’t do was traitorous to the Party. Whether this was out of spite for Trump or to protect his upcoming cushy job, I don’t know. But look at other Speakers worked hard to gain or preserve the Majority and we can see that Paul Ryan clearly took a pass and stayed home.
Healthcare was THE big issue the dims campaigned on.
I cannot tell you how many commercials on tv/radio/youtube there were from dim candidates talking about pre-existing conditions, unfair premiums, etc.
The RNC better figure out how to deal with this....and soon.
“I fled NJ 6 years ago to PA because theres no fixing that state”
You basically proved my point.
Oddly enough, the left doesn’t do this. Just us.
But we mock them?
I like Karen Handel but she is not a good campaigner.
McBath lost a kid to gang related gun violence. She played up on that heart string.
Consider the specter of gun violence taking your kid and a lot of suburban moms will vote with their feelings over the facts.
Plus throw in the "black" factor and you have the perfect storm for Handell.
I think Woodall in the 7th is running into a similar storm.
Deal with it? How about by having kept their damn promises.
As Rush says....it's hard to beat Santa Clause.
Write off GA as your Next Place to Live.
She won by 1%. I had no idea. I was pretty sure I lived in a red area (North Fulton), but many at my polling place were suspect dems.
Kemp still won. that district is a direct result of immigration. Handel was horrible though..pretty much an stablishmemt GOP representative and not MAGA
Abrams drove up minority vote in the district, corporate entities in Atlanta supported Abrams and turnout was static for Republicans, until this election most of the collar counties to Atlanta were Republican except DeKalb and Clayton. This year five more were added.
Even though it was Cagle (Kemps primary opponent) that pushed through ending fuel tax breaks for Delta in the Republican legislature) Republicans paid the price for supporting the sanctioning of corporations.
Good luck holding the seat you won by a few thousand votes in 2020 when you don’t have the “1st female black” Governor candidate to convince a bunch of stupid white suburban women to go vote against their own self interest “because it will be historic”.
The blue tide barely washed her into office. Now she has to go to DC, vote against everything she claimed to stand for, and then explain to the voters in 2020 why they should vote for her after she lied to them in 2018 to win.
I live about 25 miles west of Chicago, and this area is being inundated by moslems, and I mean the hardcore kind (the women wear the black robes that only have the eyes exposed; and they always walk behind their throat-bearded, pajama-wearing men who wear skull caps). They are some of the rudest and most surly people I’ve ever had the misfortune of being around.
Maybe this will finally put a stake through the heart of one of Georgias worst candidates ever. Yes even worse than Hank or John
This aint a bell weather. Handel was and is a useless person guaranteed to lose
I live in the district......
Handel ran an AWFUL campaign....virtually no ground game....limited effective advertising.....
Lucy McBath had a great ground game, fantastic ads....
That simple.....
BTW, 6th district covers a large portion of the city of Roswell and North Fulton County.....Strong Republican and conservative areas.....
Nope all of Lucys ads hammered Handel on her healthcare stance
Handel was a self entitled do nothing who thought if she could just hang out at the country club shed be fine
Tom Price held the seat by plenty for years before
Handel was the worst possible candidate. Handel lost the election.
Not all of it
A bit of self awareness would help. Handel was a waste of a candidate. She lost the election
