The Top Four Reasons California Is Unsustainable
Forbes ^ | Apr 19, 2018 | Thomas Del Beccaro

California is a place unlike any other on the Globe. It boasts perhaps the greatest natural resources of any state along with shining high-tech industries. However, like many good economic stories, government policies threaten its future.

Indeed, its government has made California unsustainable.

Of course, it wasn’t always this way. As the 1960s came to a close in California, it had a population of nearly twenty million. In the decade before, its economic strength afforded the construction of a vast State Water Project and higher education system that was the envy of the world. Matched with a majestic and trade friendly coastline, along with visionary business leaders, California’s future seemed secured.

Speak for yourself. The move from TN to CA worked out well for the Clampetts at least! ;-)

Were the Clampets from Tennessee? Being there’s not much oil in our state i thought they were from Oklahoma.

only gets a choice between two commie-style political hacks (with ZERO opposing candidates,

I believe even write-ins are not allowed. You get the choice of Dem A or Dem B

The #1 reason why California is not sustainable is the cost of illegal immigration, yet they welcome it. Nearly 33% of the welfare recipients in the United States live in California.

California is a beautiful state plagued with a whole lot of ugly liberals.

I wish there was a magic cure.

its a great picture, thanks.
but the bike boys (most of them anyway) are not the MAIN problem destroying the once-great state of Californication

if it only had bike boys out having their (even rowdy) fun,
and could be freed of its commie-style political hacks/sell-out whore politicians

California could then recover, imho

Sorry to hear that. Freepers forget there’s a lot of good conservatives trapped behind enemy lines. Hope you have insurance cuz I’d take this as a warning from on high and get out of “Sodom’

actually, they allow write-in candidates but somehow they get away with limiting them to just the ones the state says are ok

Yeah, ever since the Oroville dam broke I’ve been watching the blancolirio channel on utube and he videos alot of California’s beauty.

It’s a shame it’s being wasted on liberals and illegals.

And no, I don’t see an solution. It will get a lot worswe before it gets better. sorry.

I was just in the Bay Area for a visit last weekend. The weather was great but that’s all I can say nice about it. It continues to be over populated and over priced. In San Jose I didn’t see a homeless problem though. I guess they have them shuffled to areas not normally seen by visitors.

South of SanFran the weather tends to be warm or not so warm. Those are the two official seasons. The unofficial seasons are fire, floods, landslides, and earthquakes.

Yes, the left did ruin CA, a state that used to lead the nation in ideas and policies but those days are long gone. I think the sheer number of people living there ruined it and the massive unchecked influx from Mexico was the main culprit. That’s not a dig on Mexicans. That’s a dig on our government for not stopping it when we had a chance. That bell can’t be un-wrung. (sp)

This article is from April so it’s fairly current. Even though officially people are leaving CA. Unofficially they are still pouring in from Hispanic and other countries. That must stop (70 years ago) but since we can’t go back in time to fix it; we will have to settle for stopping it now. I don’t know if there’s a road back for CA, I hope so, but I seriously doubt it unless a plague wipes out half the population. Speaking of roads; I saw improved roads since my last visit (2 years ago) so I guess that makes two nice things I can say about CA right now.

The vast majority of the land mass in this state is the stuff of you youthful dreams.

But boy o boy do the urban areas suck.

Yeah, that’s a big one but it goes to the belief of the never ending bank account where the checks never bounce because they never believe the money stream would ever slow down.

Reality about to bite....hard.

“the state IS salvageable imho.. but it will take a major investment that maybe the GOP doesn’t think worth the fight?”

The GOP abandoned us. In a back room deal they allowed this state to be gerrymandered into a protected Demon-rat majority.

“Perhaps it is fitting that the California town that was just destroyed by the fire — and a town they are now saying will never be rebuilt — was named Paradise.”

There’s a reason they named it Paradise.

Only in the fevered dreams of Hollywood would East Tennessee have oil. There might be a few pumps but not enough to made you “California Rich”

Coal? Yeah, we got lots!
