President Trump has decided to remove Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, and her departure from the administration is likely to occur in the coming weeks, if not sooner, according to five current and former White House officials.
Trump canceled a planned trip with Nielsen this week to visit U.S. troops at the border in South Texas and told aides over the weekend he wants her out as soon as possible, these officials said. The president has grumbled for months about what he views as Nielsen’s lackluster performance on immigration enforcement and is believed to be looking for a replacement who will implement his policy ideas with more alacrity.
The announcement could come as soon as this week, three of these officials said.

The Rudy Giuliani lovefest around here is a mystery to me as well. If he were a politician in the Plains or Rocky Mountain states rather than New York City, he’d be running to the Left of most Democrats with his views on just about everything.

Giuliani was the right man for New York City, simply because all of the other alternatives were so far to the Left they make Bernie Sanders look like Joe Arpaio. Just because he’s the best that NYC could do doesn’t mean that he’s the best we can do at the national level. The same thing is true of Chris Christie and Mitt Romney - unfortunately, they’re as good as you’re going to get in deep-blue New Jersey and Massachusetts, but at a national level we can do a hell of a lot better.
18 years ago, I would have been cheering for Rudy with everyone else, but we all age in various ways. I know I have.
Rudy will be 75 next year. 75 these days is not OLD-old necessarily, but politics and multiple costly divorces can age a man rapidly.

and Rudy’s great handicap is that he is a publicity hound; didn’t his performance as legal counsel to the President teach you anything? Giuliani would give the Dems everything they need to abolish ICE and do away with the border permenantly.
Sheriff Joe needs to go away and retire.

My objections to Rudy have nothing to do with his age (he’s only 3 years older than Trump), and everything to do with his liberalism. On immigration and gun rights, he always has been and would be a disaster.
