Our troops shouted “Lafayette, we are here!” when they came ashore in World War I.

The Nazis may very well have been extracted from France, but it would have been the Soviets that did it.
And if that were the case, who would have been able to tell the difference between them and the Nazis?
My parents were in Hungary when the Russians came in and they were worse than the Nazis, taking all the food they could find and anything left of value they could find and sending it to Russia.

Um...France was defeated in WW II and was occupied for 4 year or so by their Germany vanquishers.
Operation Overlord in 1944 started the liberation process which took over a year to accomplish.

The Germans DID defeat the French. And without the US Marines heroic stand Belleau Wood, they would have taken Paris and probably defeated the French in WWI as well.

Correct. Stalin ordered whole factories disassembled and moved east away from the front.

While France wasn’t crushed by the Germans in WWI like they were in WWII, major parts of the country were under German control. In 1917 the Russian Revolution and their peace agreement with Germany meant the Germans got massive reinforcements for the Western Front. It is certainly arguable that the French would have collapsed without the stiffening of the lines the American forces allowed.
To: 2ndDivisionVet
That's 1000% true, accurate and undeniable. And that's the case in two different wars. For proof they can survey the thousands and thousands of white crosses and Stars of David found in France and elsewhere in Europe.
