Or maybe I just understand politics. LOL.
Pro-Trump candidates did well. Bush leaguers didnt.
And the Rats lost seats in the Senate in a first Midterm with an opposing party President, something so unprecedented, that it’s only happened 5 times in the past 105 years.
We can't lose more seat next time and say, 'well, it really wasn't as bad as it could have been.'
I think it's basic.
Democrats have positioned themselves, by virtue of the media, as 'the good guys'; the 'people who care about you and want to help you'; the people who see government as the solution and not the problem.
The Republican message is 'self-reliance'; the people who want the government to leave them alone so they can rise or fall on their own; the people who see government as the problem not the solution.
I see these as the two extremes in the debate.
Massive democrat fraud is what’s shaking up the map!
1. The Democrats win when "the people who see government as the solution and not the problem" punish the Republicans when the government doesn't do its job.
2. The Republicans win when "the people who see government as the solution and not the problem" punish the Democrats when the government does its job badly.
The bad news is that the people who see government as the solution and not the problem probably comprise at least 80% of the voters in this country.
The good news is that government is so fouled up by its very nature that it hardly EVER does its job well.
The opportunity was wasted in large part because the Republican Party remains a deeply split political entity. The pro-government establishment Republican Party is still as strong as the insurrectionist Trump Wing.
There was no way with a party so split - we went into the Trump Administration with a Congressional Majority that included the likes of Paul Ryan and John McCain in positions of great power and influence - and with strong backing from the party. Even Mitt Romney lurked. The insurrectionist Trump Wing did NOT have control of the party (they still don’t have real control).
A House Divided will not stand. And it will also waste a golden opportunity. Some would rather continue to fight internal battles than accept outside leadership. The fact that Trump was a political amateur amongst lifelong, careerist political/government professionals can not be downplayed. In fact, it will hamper him all throughout his tenure, even if he gets eight years.
There is a middle area as well
Work with Trump is better then a never Trumper
You can disagree with Trump on an issue but that doesn’t make you never Trump, it just makes you moderate
the never trumpers were people who were upset that Trump got in and not one of their corrupt cronies.
bump
“the people who see government as the solution and not the problem.”
Those would be Marxists...even if they don’t recognize themselves as such. It is why socialist “solutions” (such as single payer) were ascendant in this past election.
Its not massive
We need to think on how to win
Whatever is going on in Florida stinks, that crazy lady in Georgia is trying to steal that election as well. But I think we legitimately lost the house. We need to figure out how to win in 2020
Crying like a bunch of babies isn’t going to help us win in 2020
The bottom line for me is this: continuing to reshape the economy to benefit the middle class. Putting all else aside, strong families trend Republican, and strong families are based on strong economies. Help make sure hard work pays off and we’ll be OK in the long run.

“Deep dissatisfaction with President Trump and an apparent realignment . . .”
When “all” the “press” reports 24/7 every negative spin, meme, and lie they can about Trump and Republicans, it’s no wonder that the folks bombarded with only that information voted the way they did.
We need to fix the libel/slander laws that protect their false reporting about “public figures” and start suing the britches off them personally and corporately. I think that is the only thing that will touch them. Perhaps a RICO suit or two of “journolist” participants as well. This is a 100% coordinated propaganda effort -— so we have to address it and fight it as propaganda, and not protected 1st Amendment free speech.
That’s all true. In fact, I’ve been saying for days that the GOP has been the victim of its own success. It’s damn near impossible to come up with a legislative agenda when your constituents range from wealthy suburbanites to rural libertarians.
Did Democrats make gains in suburbs and rural communities?
If so why?
simple- what did the GOPe do to inspire people to vote and GOTV??
Answer? Nothing...
Kavanaugh injected some motivation into people but the GOPe did nothing- as usual...
remember- the only reason we kicked ass in the midterms of 2010/2014 was the Tea Party uprising- it had NOTHING to do with the GOP/GOPe...
we need either another Tea Party uprising or another pro-Trump grass roots movement to hit the streets. We also need the mccain-less/flake-less/corker-less GOP to start acting like conservatives and to be honest i am encouraged by what i see from Lindsey Graham...
that’s it in a nutshell..
That’s a good point. My Congressman wasn’t a “never Trumper” by that measure.
Democrats don’t allow elections only fixes.
Neither is screaming 'fake news' and 'fake polls' whenever we read something we don't like to hear.
I'm suspicious of every poll and every news article from the MSM but even with the obvious bias they at least show us the thought process, strategies, and plans of the left.
