ep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., beat back a challenge from dark horse candidate, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, on Wednesday for the role of House Minority Leader, with Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., nabbing the title of GOP conference chairman.

The California lawmaker took a decisive victory against Jordan, bringing in 159 votes to the Ohio representative’s 43 votes. McCarthy was initially elected to the House in 2006 and has served as the House Majority Leader since 2014.

McCarthy "knows what he needs to do," said GOP Whip Steve Scalise, the Louisiana Republican who was gravely wounded in last year's congressional baseball practice shooting and unanimously won the No. 2 spot as minority whip.

"Kiss the wall goodbye."

Don't think so. There have been miles completed and more are starting up within weeks, IIRC. Further funding can be re-directed from Defense, Interior, and others according to Executive direction that I've read.

While I may not share the same strong religious feelings as you, I’m sure we’d agree on most things, if not close to all. But I, too, think that this country has reached a tipping point, though many do not see it or are willing to accept it. Right now, we have sitting US Senators that want anyone and everyone to be allowed to vote in our elections.

All so they can retain and take hold of all the power.

I have a feeling that a powder keg moment is on the horizon, unfortunately.

The midterm shenanigans have confirmed for me that the drastic action required to restore our nation will not be happening within the current system.

159 votes to the Ohio representative’s 43 votes

Just great...we have 159 worthless congressmen and only 43 conservative ones.

actually; wasn’t McCarthy John Boehner’s hand picked successor that we objected to so strongly—— and cheered when Lyan Ryan was picked?

“Kiss the wall goodbye”

Well, some on this site excused Trump every time he put off fighting for the border wall. He had every chance and blew it, now its too late.

well, this is very important, because, as I just heard tonight, those 10,000 on our doorstep demanding refugee status are mostly LSMFT’s “fleeing persecution for their sexual proclivities”...... so we’ll be in a much better position to represent them......./sarc.

Liz Cheney. I guess that was why her father was in DC now.

I will never vote Republican again. If Trump wants my vote, it will have to be for another, new, Party.

I do believe you are correct. Ryan was supposed to be the Conservative champion because of that one video when Congressional folks met with soetero, over obamacare and Ryan challenged him. Although, if you look back at it, was Ryan the one that was handpicked and McCarthy was the decoy?

Except for a very small handful, that are labeled extremist by their own party members, it’s becoming more and more apparent that it’s all Kabuki Theater.

Term Limits ... Repeal the 17th Amendment ... would be a start in getting rid of this disease.

I agree. It was a stop trump strategy. It worked.

Why?

Media is owned by the establishment

when GOP was last House minority I believe they were left out of much of House business and it will the same again.?

I think that's the norm now. How much House business have the Democrats been allowed in lately. Hopefully it will be a short time in the wilderness and the GOP will win back a majority in 2020.

And, do *what* exactly??

They *promised* (cross their heart) to repeal O’Care to win control of D.C. the last time (hell, had passed 6+ bills to do so). They won and IMMEDIATELY started making excuses why those prior bills couldn’t be re-introduced. S*, now THEY are the ones saying how they’ll ‘FIX’ O’Care (not repeal)....(R) can ‘run it’ better.

Hmmm, might be why the Constitution was *NEVER* one of their talking points.

Bush & D.C. control gave us: TSA, NSA, NCLB, DHS, TARP, “too big to fail”, “religion of peace” and the *LARGEST* expansion of MediXYZ.

Ryan and the cabal tried to ran through ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ (aka “don’t enforce all the ‘laws’ already on the books...just don’t call it amnesty”). What the hell does anyone expect ‘em to do w/ 10K on the border when they couldn’t even counter ‘kids in cages’??

Thanks to the (R)N(C) and their ‘control’, we now have $21T+ and back to $1T+ deficits

Oh, but we got rid of the ‘indiv. mandate’ and corp tax cuts...CRUMBS vs. anti-A1S8 growth of Fedzilla.

How, again, is going over the cliff @ 60MPH (R) better than 100MPH (D)??

It doesn't really matter. The California Assembly/Senate now have a super majority. They will pass as many tax increases and regulations as they want for their Socialist utopia. The Governor will sign such legislation. And now I read that a Socialist is winning in our conservative enclave of the 45th district.

That does it for us. The wife is retiring next year and we will be part of the historical exodus from Kalifornia.

Question is: What State?
I've looked at Nevada for some time with no state taxes, but their gov is turning blue.
Then there is Arizona with their lax gun laws, but they are also turning blue.
New Mexico? Forget it ... hippies and more hippies.
Texas? Maybe. But where don't they have mass illegals and bugs? Maybe western Texas?
Southern Utah? Comments?

Trump needs to start a new party cause the republicans just aren’t cutting it anymore. Now is the time for all good men (women) to come to the aid of their country. It’s time
