Between this cuck Macron and the rapidly growing Muslim majorities in most French cities, France would have been better off being the Vassal of Hitler.

At every moment of our history, we were allies

No, we were not. The treaty of alliance of 1778 was repudiated by the Washington administration n 1793, even though it remained technically in force until 1800. Even though we were technically allied, we fought a naval war--which the US won--in 1798-1800.

It would be 1944 before the US and France would become formally allied again when the Free French government formally joined the Allies in World War II by signing the "United Nations" declaration.

Sorry gotta disagree — France continuing to fight would have prolonged the Battle of France by maybe 2-4 weeks

France had zero strategic reserves, they had put all of their Army including tanks to block the front lines and bolster the Maginot line - by June 1940 France was gone, baby, gone, without or without a surrender

Soon after, Germany began laying plans to invade England, with the attacks on the RAF infrastructure as the prelude to a cross-channel incursion.

So really, France fighting — with nothing — would have delayed matters by no more than one month, 2 at the outside.

Germany would likely have invaded Russia pretty much as it turned out in June 1941

The real reason Stalin got so much of Europe had zero to do with France giving up — it had more to do with things such as FDR going along with Churchill’s madcap scheme to invade Italy after North Africa had been conquered, rather than proceed forthwith to landings in southern and northern France.

I mean, if you can get to Sicily, couldn’t you just as readily get to Marseilles and Normandy?

Two snippets of meetings in France in the spring of 1940 during the battle and what the French principals told P.M. Churchill. (also note how much further south Tours is from Paris, an indication of how rapidly the Germans were advancing once they no longer had to divert divisions to surround Dunkirk after the 1st week of June 1940.

5-16-40 — meeting in Paris
When Churchill asked about the strategic reserve, Gamelin replied that there was none. Churchill then inquired when and where Gamelin proposed to attack the flanks of the bulge. Gamelin replied with a hopeless shrug and the famous words: “Inferiority of numbers, inferiority of equipment, inferiority of method.”

6-13-40 — meeting at Tours, Fra.
Reynaud declared that unless immediate help was assured by the US, the French government would have to give up the struggle. He acknowledged that the two countries had agreed never to conclude a separate peace at a meeting of the SWC London on 28 March 1940, but France was physically incapable of carrying on. The news was received by the British with shock and horror. Churchill said with determination, “We must fight, we will fight, and that is why we must ask our friends to fight on.” Prime Minister Reynaud acknowledged that Britain would continue the war, affirming that France would also continue the struggle from North Africa, if necessary, if there were a chance of success. That success could come only if America were prepared to join the fray. The French leader called for British understanding, asking again for France to be released from her obligation not to conclude a separate peace now that she could do no more.

“She could do no more” — June 1940

Europe was completely united in 1943.

"We have to look at the vision of one day creating a real, true European army"--Angela Merkel, 2018

Not only was Europe united in 1943, but it even had a true European army. The Waffen-Schutzstaffel or Waffen-SS (Armed Guard Unit), the Nazi Party's army, fielded units from every country in Europe.

Fortunately, Macron has both the stature and popularity of Mickey Mouse in his own country.

The National Front will make short work of him in the next election.

A vassal state does not need military protection from a more powerful state.

It really looks like there is no point to NATO. If these nations feels the need to defend themselves from the US, NATO is a fools errand for the US. We could be helping to train and fund the military nations of like France and Germany only to see them siding with Russia and China in a war against the US in the near future.

Let’s take them at their word an withdraw from NATO. What Macron said may actually have violated the NATO treaty. And, let’s drop out of the UN too.

Near defeat to Germany? Nothing near about it. France collapsed like a house of cards in 1940. The French banked on static fortifications in the Maginot Line, but the Germans drove around it with massed armor.

Macron is just upset because he grew up in a France that didn’t allow him to wear one of those cool Nazi uniforms.

“RESPECT”?????? Macron is the POS who welcomed Trump to Paris by announcing that Europe needed a pan-European army to protect itself against the USA, Russia, and China.

To be fair to Macron, he sort of has a point regarding France being a “historic ally” to the US. After all, if it weren’t for the French and Spanish, we wouldn’t even HAVE America as an independent nation, and if anything we’d still be under British control.

Still, if you’re going to view us as a historical ally, how about actually TREATING us like one and not demonizing Trump or nationalism. I mean, what, are you going to denounce Charles de Gaulle, who by your definition was a traitor? I may not like Charles de Gaulle for stupidly invoking Voltaire when pardoning Sartre (and forgetting that Voltaire not only had been arrested multiple times in his lifetime, but his penname was formed in jail), but I at least give him due respect for actually looking out for his country’s best interests. Let’s hope Marine Le Pen, or better yet, her niece Marina, kicks that loser out and make France great again, make it as great as it was pre-1789.

The attention these “World Leaders” get sometimes amuses me. Those European countries are on the same order of manatude as our larger states. So we need to be comparing Macron to Moonbeam and Fredo’s brother, not Trump. Keep things in perspective.
