Rep. Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) ascended to the top job in House Republican leadership on Wednesday, while Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.) followed in her father’s footsteps by taking the party’s No. 3 spot.

McCarthy prevailed over Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) 159-43, according to the House press gallery, while Cheney was elected by voice vote.

Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) is stepping down at the end of his term in January. That opened up the top spot in House Republican leadership, which following the GOP’s defeat in last week’s midterms will be House Minority Leader.

Makes me wonder how many damned RINO’s there are left. They apparently like how Ryan ran the House, and voted his clone into that seat.

Bush League Republicans will continue to obstruct the enforcement of laws and borders as they have been doing for 30 years.

Amazing. It’s not like they know what the people want. It would probably be a mistake for Trump to weigh in on this, maybe behind the scenes but he wouldn’t support this.

Well this vote is bogus, it included the 40 plus retiring Rinos loyal to Ryan and his stooge McCarthy.

I think the vote for McCarthy was over 170 and all Jordan could get was 43. Next congress it will be more even since these exiting Rinos are being replaced by more conservatives
but Trump must intervene or he gets nothing done in the lame duck session.\

Does anyone think McCarthy funds the wall when he and Ryan didn’t do it when the past two years with a big majority they didn’t fund the wall?

GOP has Rinos Like Mike Lee who wants to introduce a Senate bill to protect Mueller from being shut the heck down. Why?

I agree. Jim Jordan would be a much better leader. He’s not a RINO like McCarthy. Didn’t McCarthy have some baggage which required him to withdraw in running for Speaker?

Huge sigh of relief from House RINO caucus as they will not have to “demonstrate leadership” for the next two years.

RE: "I think Rep Jim Jordan would have been a better choice."

FAR BETTER!

McCarthy was neither conservative, nor supportive of Trump until he sensed serious challenges to his reelection, at which point he came out with his "Build the Wall" rhetoric. I suspect that will fall by the wayside in a hurry.
