SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras—On this city’s violent outskirts, where families live in tin-roofed shacks on streets menaced by gangs, the word is out on how best to escape to the U.S.
Bring the children.
The number of Central American families with children arriving at the U.S. border seeking asylum has surged in recent years—and they keep coming, as more migrant caravans make their way through Mexico.
Having children in tow can be a successful tactic because of American immigration rules. Families from crime-ridden Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador are able to gain entry by demonstrating a credible fear of returning home.
Then, as they wait for court hearings on their asylum claims in a process that can take years, most are released into the U.S. because of a 20-day limit on detaining minors; an adult traveling alone could be detained much longer.
Doris Paz, a 29-year-old mother of three, said that is how her sister-in-law reached San Antonio. It is how a neighbor recently crossed into the U.S. with two children. It is why a cousin grabbed her children and joined a caravan of migrants that left Honduras last month. And it is why Ms. Paz joined the same caravan with her 6-year-old son.
“They say that bringing your child is your ticket in,” said Ms. Paz. After a few days walking with her son under tropical heat, however, she turned around and went home.
In fiscal year 2018, which ran from October 2017 to September 2018, a record of 107,212 immigrants traveling in families were apprehended at the U.S. border with Mexico, compared with 14,855 in fiscal year 2013, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The number of apprehended families hit a new monthly record in October, with officials catching roughly 23,100 immigrants traveling as families.

only if they come in through LEGAL CHANNELS. Otherwise, deport them as a family. No exceptions.
So funny reading comments on here about sending people back. Like anything is going to be done based on your empty talk. These are the same people who probably shop at target, buy from amazon, support the NFL, stream movies from Netflix and then cry when the deep state grows even larger. Not when they don't have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out! These countries south of our border do not have economies that will support their populations. That is their fundamental problem. So having unfettered procreation simply exacerbates the problem.
detain the adults and send thee kids to CPS because mom and dad are in custody and they endangered the kids life when they tried to sneak in to the country.

Ok, all children have to have the DNA of either father or mother, and father and mother must provide a marriage certificate to prove this is a family. If the child is not genetically related, then they need to produce adoption records.

If this garbage would put half the energy into fixing their countries that they do into coming up with all manner of deviousness to get in here they wouldn’t have to run away from their respective countries.
DNA testing.
“Family” in this case being a guy, a chick, and some kids. No one has to be related to anyone else. DNA testing on every single person to verify whether they’re related will keep them squatting in TJ for quite a while longer.
We can play this game for a long time. No problem.
