McConnell sets up votes on worst of Trump nominees, gives the finger to Jeff Flake over his threats

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has apparently decided to give a middle finger to Sen. Jeff Flake, the retiring Arizona Republican who says he'll vote against judicial nominees in committee and on the floor until McConnell allows a floor vote on his legislation to protect the Mueller investigation. At the end of the day Thursday, McConnell filed cloture on two of the very worst of Trump's nominees: district court nominee Thomas Farr of North Carolina and 8th Circuit nominee Jonathan Kobes. The votes will happen when the Senate returns after Thanksgiving.

Farr has been waiting for a vote since the Judiciary Committee passed him back in January. Farr "helped draft North Carolina's voter suppression law, defended racially discriminatory gerrymandering and may have lied to the Senate about his role in disenfranchising black voters when he worked for the late Sen. Jesse Helms." He's a nightmare, his history of voter suppression extreme. And he lied to the Judiciary Committee about it. The uproar following his success in the Judiciary Committee might be why McConnell has been reluctant to have the floor vote, but it's typical of him that he'll use it now to give a massive "f*** you" to Flake.

Newsok dot com is the web site for The Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Largest newspaper in the state and not positive but think it is still owned by the Gaylord family.

The caravan will add votes against Trump, so he might not get re-elected.

Bingo! History indicates that is a probable cause for future defeats of R politicians.

Trump has clearly recognized our borders presently require added protection. Perhaps he will soon recognize, if he hasn't already, that so do our ballot boxes.

Both represent the "hull" of our vessel of freedom and are immediate and essential elements in any effort to MAGA.

I don’t think he did it for the notariety, I think he did it to turn the country around. He’s being honest about it. And I think he WILL safeguard elections by getting rid of the fraud. Illegals won’t be voting next time, and he will win re-election.

For those that do not actually go to the link, the author is: rss@dailykos.com (Joan McCarter)

So I'm sure she is not interjecting her bias in her reporting here. /sarcasm

The President does seem a little deflated after the mid-terms. I hope it is just fatigue. He’s no spring chicken and he busted his butt campaigning

Has to be depressing after all he accomplished for the country starting with stopping NKOREA's missiles shoots and then campaigning like no other president I ever remember

I don’t see him as deflated. I see someone who is grinding their molars as they keep an iron grip on absolute, icy fury.

His signature grandiosity is banked, for now. He has some weapons left. I just hope he gets to use them.

Flake needs much more than a one finger salute. His exit can’t come soon enough. Not that that will be the end of him looking for the next camera.

If any of the Gang of Four gets replaced by President Trump in the next two years, the socialists will have a titanic meltdown. We’re talking Chernobyl here. It would be glorious to watch. I’d have to lay in extra stores of popcorn just for the confirmation hearings. I SO hope it happens.

I posted this during the primaries, I don't think anything has changed since then.

--------

As someone about Trump’s age, I find it easy to believe his explanation as to why he's running.

I've agonized over the America we are leaving for my own children and grandchildren to live in and raise their families in. Most Freepers here probably feel the same way.

America hardly resembles the one I grew up in. It's but a shadow of its former self, with freedoms, successes, with respect from our friends, and fear of us by our enemies, all but non-existent.

Trump said he was running so that his family wouldn't look at him, knowing he could have fixed it, but didn't.

His own story of building the Trump Organization shows that he knows how to build great empires. Now he wants to make all of America great again.

I think we are but the lucky side beneficiaries.

"Worst???"

Yep! They both think the former U.S. Constitution (as written by the Founders) is the controlling legal document...

Ohhh! The horror...
