My guess is that employees had taken pity and given him the food anyway (just going to throw it away)... and he made a habit of it. Manager got word and tried to shut him down... with the predictable results.
Yes, but once they prepare the food, they’re stuck with it if it’s not paid for.
They can’t take it back apart and put it back in the trays.
So what do they do with it? Either throw it away or let the help eat it.
So either way, it’s a loss for the business.
Must be nice to have that option, to dine and dash at will.
Right. This story is puzzling to me. Without taking any sides here, I cannot fathom how anyone could even attempt to “dine and dash” at Chipotle seeing as how you have to pay before they even hand you your meal.
Your sequence applies to most of the burger joints where the food is ordered from a preset menu. In places like Chipotle and other fast food places where the food is “made to order”, you make your choices, then you pay at the end of the line.
So, the “on demand” food is put together and ready for eating or final processing (such as cooking) before they find out that you have no intention of paying. Not sure about Minnesota, but in California, there are now two options for this food: Give it away or throw it away. In either case, the food is lost.
The only thing that makes sense is that they grab the bag from the counter and run out the door.
I can’t blame these ‘customers’ for not accepting the ‘food’ considering how many people have gotten sick from eating their crap.
Serves them right.
