When President Trump "pardons" a pair of Thanksgiving turkeys on Tuesday, prisoners will be watching and hoping that Trump breaks with tradition and frees human beings alongside lucky birds.
This year, optimism is fueled by signs that the White House and Justice Department are processing clemency requests, as Trump denounces perceived unfairness in criminal sentencing and vows to release more inmates.
Last week, Trump endorsed legislation that would reduce some drug-crime penalties, after saying in October that "a lot of people" are jailed for "no reason," and that he was "actively looking" for inmates to release.

President should have the chef in attendance for the acceptance of the traditional Thanksgiving turkey at the White House. He should instruct the chef to have at it and prepare a fine Thanksgiving dinner. Skip the pardoning of the turkey, which I always thought was absolutely stupid.

The turkey pardon thing is a joke. Pardoning criminals is stupid, unless they were jailed by the left for violating leftist norms.
He should join Brett Kavanaugh and family at the local DC SOME soup kitchen. It is really a festive place during the holidays.
One of the funniest turkey pardons was by Sarah Palin. While she was pardoning the Alaska turkeys at a farm, the slaughter of other turkeys was going on in the background. Always know what's behind you if you are being filmed, especially by a press that hates you.
