Statement from President Donald J. Trump on Standing with Saudi Arabia
The White House ^ | November 20, 2018 | Donald J. Trump, POTUS

Posted on 11/20/2018 2:26:13 PM PST by little jeremiah

America First!

The world is a very dangerous place!

The country of Iran, as an example, is responsible for a bloody proxy war against Saudi Arabia in Yemen, trying to destabilize Iraq’s fragile attempt at democracy, supporting the terror group Hezbollah in Lebanon, propping up dictator Bashar Assad in Syria (who has killed millions of his own citizens), and much more. Likewise, the Iranians have killed many Americans and other innocent people throughout the Middle East. Iran states openly, and with great force, “Death to America!” and “Death to Israel!” Iran is considered “the world’s leading sponsor of terror.”

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia would gladly withdraw from Yemen if the Iranians would agree to leave. They would immediately provide desperately needed humanitarian assistance. Additionally, Saudi Arabia has agreed to spend billions of dollars in leading the fight against Radical Islamic Terrorism.

After my heavily negotiated trip to Saudi Arabia last year, the Kingdom agreed to spend and invest $450 billion in the United States. This is a record amount of money. It will create hundreds of thousands of jobs, tremendous economic development, and much additional wealth for the United States. Of the $450 billion, $110 billion will be spent on the purchase of military equipment from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and many other great U.S. defense contractors. If we foolishly cancel these contracts, Russia and China would be the enormous beneficiaries – and very happy to acquire all of this newfound business. It would be a wonderful gift to them directly from the United States!

The crime against Jamal Khashoggi was a terrible one, and one that our country does not condone. Indeed, we have taken strong action against those already known to have participated in the murder. After great independent research, we now know many details of this horrible crime. We have already sanctioned 17 Saudis known to have been involved in the murder of Mr. Khashoggi, and the disposal of his body.

Representatives of Saudi Arabia say that Jamal Khashoggi was an “enemy of the state” and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, but my decision is in no way based on that – this is an unacceptable and horrible crime. King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman vigorously deny any knowledge of the planning or execution of the murder of Mr. Khashoggi. Our intelligence agencies continue to assess all information, but it could very well be that the Crown Prince had knowledge of this tragic event – maybe he did and maybe he didn’t!

That being said, we may never know all of the facts surrounding the murder of Mr. Jamal Khashoggi. In any case, our relationship is with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They have been a great ally in our very important fight against Iran. The United States intends to remain a steadfast partner of Saudi Arabia to ensure the interests of our country, Israel and all other partners in the region. It is our paramount goal to fully eliminate the threat of terrorism throughout the world!

I understand there are members of Congress who, for political or other reasons, would like to go in a different direction – and they are free to do so. I will consider whatever ideas are presented to me, but only if they are consistent with the absolute security and safety of America. After the United States, Saudi Arabia is the largest oil producing nation in the world. They have worked closely with us and have been very responsive to my requests to keeping oil prices at reasonable levels – so important for the world. As President of the United States I intend to ensure that, in a very dangerous world, America is pursuing its national interests and vigorously contesting countries that wish to do us harm. Very simply it is called America First!

I guess you haven’t been paying much attention to Trump’s dealings with MbS nor what has been happening in S.A.

I have been paying attention.
The Sunni Saudis have to deal with the heretics, the Shia in Iran , and the Wahabbis in Saudi Arabia have to deal with Salman who appears to be a Muslim heretic like al Sisi in Egypt, and Abdulla in Jordan.
These three so-called Muslims seem to want to appease us Kafirs.
This is clearly what Allad and Muhammad don't want.
Given the chance the fundamental Muslims will assassinate them as they did Anwar Sadat in Egypt. -Tom

But the world, CIA, Democrats were ok with the loss of our Ambassador and three others at Benghazi. Our very own SOS said what difference does it make how they died or who killed them. It was business as usual after their murders. It was business as usual the way Obama and Hillary allowed Kadaffi to be brutally tortured and murdered when he had become very submissive and was no threat to US or anyone.

Saudia Arabia is our ally with Iran. It is more then just about oil. This new Prince is welcoming to western life. Allowing women to drive and go to school and the radical Islamists hate him. Our Dems hate it- because they are on the side of the Islamist radicals like CAIR. They take their money but boy or boy, Trump better disavow Saudi Arabia for the death a Washington post report who was involved with the MB who hates America.

Good. No one should care about the Moslem Brotherhood dirt bag. And how can the other side object to Trump’s opposition to Syria in that statement?

True and I agree 100%. Now is not the moment to chastise the Saudis for some Turkish piece of crap; but feeding money to the military industrial complex is NOT a good reason to have relations with the duplicitous Saudis.

Thing is it is only a matter of time. No way a bunch of F-15s are going to stop a Wahhabi revolution.

The statement is full of falsehoods.

1. Saudi Arabia, not Iran, invaded Yemen. Tens of thousands of children there have starved to death and millions now face death.

2. Assad has not killed millions of his own citizens in Syria. Not even the terrorists fighting the Syrian govt claim this. The total dead in 7 years of war is around 500,000, most of them being Syrian army and Jihadist terrorists. Who fed Trump this obvious BS which makes him look bad?

3. The Saudis have funded Wahhabi Islamist terrorists around the world, including Syria, where they have killed or exiled many Syrian Christians. The US funded Al Qaeda-related groups $700,000,000 in Syria. This was documented and published by the Pentagon last week.

4. There is no significant Iranian military presence in in Yemen. The statement that “Saudi Arabia would gladly withdraw from Yemen if the Iranians would agree to leave” is basically Saudi fake talking points.

5. “They would immediately provide desperately needed humanitarian assistance” ignores that the Saudi invasion has created the humanitarian catastrophe there.

6. “Saudi Arabia has agreed to spend billions of dollars in leading the fight against Radical Islamic Terrorism.” That’s what they say. They do the opposite, as is well-documented.

This is extremely disappointing. Written by John Bolton, the supporter of the MEK Islamo-Marxist cult that no one in Iran supports?

Rand Paul has this right.

The Saudi are our allies against Iran and Muslim terrorism.

Trump has to consider the lives of Americans.

I also read in multiple places that Kashoghi(sp?) had connection to the Muslim Brotherhood — he may have been a terrorist and by killing him, the Saudis may have saved many American lives.

Trump has to look at the whole picture.

Your list is full of falsehoods.

You seem to be unaware of the fact the MbS arrested and took the assets of several dozen very bad Saudis, including Bin Talal Alwaleed (or whatever his name is) who was one of the main funders of Wahabism in the US and other countries.

You may recall the meeting Trump had with MbS and leaders from all over the ME.

You and your hero Rand Paul ignore the Iranian presence and arms in Yemen.

You can find the facts, or not. Up to you.

And if you think that Bolton is “the supporter of the MEK Islamo-Marxist cult that no one in Iran supports” (what is the MEK stand for, I wonder?), then why do you think “Trump is our last chance”, since Trump hired Bolton? You must think Trump is an easily duped fool or bad himself. Plus duped by MbS.

S.A. has changed, because there is a new boss, MbS, and he has allied with Trump.

Khasoggi was an Islamist who hobnobbed with terrorists and wanted to bring down MbS’s reform effort. Khasoggi was a very bad dude. That’s why the commiepukes in the US like him and hate MbS.

It’s also simple to see “let’s see, who do the commiepukes and the MSM (but I repeat myelf) hate?” And then you know who is a decent guy.

But the MSM and Demns love Khasoggi, and hate MbS. So it’s important in that sense.

Khasoggi wasn’t really a reporter, he wrote a couple things for the WaPo. He was primarily an arms dealer and Islamist, and also involved in Mifsud and possibly the Chris Steele stuff, trying to use George Papadapolous. Khasoggi was a player at least somewhat involved in the coup trying to bring down Trump.

Good post...let me add the one thing no one seems to want to talk about is how the Turks obtained these audio recordings from inside the Saudi consulate or exactly what their quality is.

Given Turkish President Erdogan’s penchant for mounting false flag operations (both at home and in Syria), and the ongoing Saudi palace intrigues, there doesn’t seem to be a particularly good option here for the President.

The default to maintaining the status quo with KSA seems as good as any, regardless how its gets spun. Trump may even have gained some leverage over the Saudis on oil prices for the foreseeable future...something the Turks don’t have to offer.
