Chief Justice John Roberts is pushing back against President Donald Trump for his description of a judge who ruled against Trump's migrant asylum policy as an "Obama judge."
It's the first time the Republican-appointed leader of the federal judiciary has offered even a hint of criticism of Trump, who has previously blasted federal judges who ruled against him.
Roberts said Wednesday the U.S. doesn't have "Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges." He commented in a statement released by the Supreme Court after a query by The Associated Press.
Roberts said on the day before Thanksgiving that an "independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for."

“It’s the first time the Republican-appointed leader of the federal judiciary has offered even a hint of criticism of Trump,”
It’s amazing how they can’t restrain themselves. Trump flushes them out sooner or later.
We need RBG to assume room temperature now more than ever.
[[Roberts seems like a doofus.]]
His explanation for supporting obamacare was so asinine that legal scholars all across the country were shaking their heads in disbelief
9th Circus needs broken up... should have been done a long time ago...
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, Federal District Courts have ABSOLUTELY NO AUTHORITY to issue national injunctions... The USSC needs to end this crap!
Hi guy. I hope you are doing well.
“Freakin moron. “
I don’t think he is a moron, but I do think he is dangerous.
5.56mm
Please if they knew he was into guys, they’d be celebrating him daily
“Obamacare is a tax?”
Well, it kinda is, isn’t it? It’s a mandatory payment to the government.
Didn’t Roberts say that he thought Obamacare’s existence shouldn’t decided by a the Supreme Court. That might be a good point but it shouldn’t be the basis of a court opinion.
Not anymore. Thus classifying as a tax was inaccurate and a scam.
Bottom line: neither side beleives what Roberts is saying here, and he only makes himself look foolish for saying it. Just because he was appointed by a republican but makes a point of screwing conservatives doesn't mean that rulings from 99% of judges appointed by Democrats can't be predicted accurately a month before they even have a hearing. Because they can. And the vote of dem appointed SCOTUS justices is 100% predictable 100% of the time. Its only GOP appointed judges who are a crap shoot.
The Defender of Obamacare “criticizes” President Trump. So what else is new.
I think Ruth’s calling you John. She needs drool wiped from her robe again.
Really hope Ginsburg retires or whatever in 2019, because Roberts is simply not a very reliable fifth vote, as we saw with Obamacare.
Further proof that we don’t yet have a conservative majority on the SCOTUS.
Well, you aint doing your job if you aint pissing people off.
“Roberts criticizes Trump for ‘Obama judge’ asylum comment “
From the turd who put his blessing on Obamacacacare and cost tens of millions of Americans tens of millions of dollars and their previous decent health insurance. Have a nice day.
U.S. has Obama judges, Trump judges, Bush judges, Clinton judges and Deep State judges.
He’s just saying what GWB hasn’t got around to yet.
“The SF Rats ruling” concerns accepting asylum applications.
This might involve handing out I-589 asylum forms and taking back filled out forms, or simply taking down identifying information and claims from applicants.
Trump should still has the 1182 power to prevent admittance of these invaders.
I’m sure Roberts and the “Obama judge” live in safe places and Trump might arrange for the “asylum seekers” to be transported to these places. They walked a long way and their feet must be sore.
“Roberts is wobbly on immigration.”
What’s good for the income of the Catholic Church is good enough for Roberts.
