Oh, gee! Violence in Haiti! That’s not even worthy of a news story, it being a daily occurrence in that filth-strewn sinkhole.

Haiti is a cesspool and despite billions in aid it will Never change.

Haiti is more than a cesspool, It's cursed...

The land is stripped bare, hardly any areable land left to grow anything of value. Eating Mud pies will only get you so far !

If the U.N. wants to be useful, (I know silly idea) buy very large tracts of land, put up electric fences, rehab the land, wait 20 years. Rinse repeat.

The Dominican Republic is going through a serious problem in that the Haitian migrants are stripping bare its forests to make charcoal. This in violation of Dominican law and recreating the conditions they escaped in Haiti.
Kind of remind me of Democrat voters who move to a Red state and vote for politicians who will enact the very policies you ran away from.

Haiti wasn’t that bad until Papa Doc killed off the lighter-skinned middle class.

Actually, it was Haiti which first invaded and unsuccessfully attempted to annex the Dominican Republic.

One could only wish it had been unsuccessful.
Early in the 19th century Haiti occupied the DR for decades imposing a reign of terror with wholesale rape and murder; this accounts for the fact that most Dominicans are at least partly black. It took a lot of blood to push them back across the border. They have tried several times since to recover their old slaves but have been repelled in each attempt.

This time around, however, they're using a demographic invasion and, being backed up by the UN and the American government, are proving a frustrating problem. Many Dominicans believe George Soros is behind the current migration and in 2013 or so, a campaign of slander was launched against them likely by Obama, accusing them of racism for requiring resident Haitians to legalize their status.

True, but long-term, it was unsuccessful. The Dominican Republic is far more successful that Haiti. All that is needed to prove the point is to look at an aerial photo near the border area.

DR is green with marked roads and signs of modern civilization. Haiti is brown with dirt paths and all the telltale signs of the $#*+hole civilization which it is.
