On this Thanksgiving Day, I am thankful that America has a president, and the Free World a leader, who is the most admirable figure to hold this position in my lifetime.
I've been of voting age in eleven presidential elections. I voted in most but not all of them. Usually both choices were uninspiring. Whom to pick, a dimbulb D.C. drudge (Ford) or a smarmy phony (Carter)? A charmless technocrat (Dukakis) or an establishment empty suit (Bush senior)? In 1992 I bought Slick Willie's act; the disillusion set in almost immediately after his inauguration. Bush junior and Obama were the two worst presidents since Wilson, but the men who ran against them weren't world-beaters either. Even the one great president of my lifetime prior to 2016, Ronald Reagan, fell way short of carrying out the sweeping small-government reforms he'd pledged.

Boy, was I wrong about Trump- and mighty glad about it. Turns out, Trump is everything Ronald Reagan ever was as President, some ways even better. Trump has given us Conservative judges, cut regulations to give us a booming economy, and helped fund the destruction of ISIS.
Trump and Reagan had some things in common- both men were divorced, both men honed their skills on television to help them become superb campaign speakers (Reagan was smooth, while Trump is a battering ram), both men were underestimated by their enemies (called stupid, idiot, "amiable dunce", etc) and wind up always being the smartest guys in the room.
The only differences are in the opposition. In Reagan's day, you still had Democrats who loved their country and would work with Reagan- some Conservative Democrats like Sonny Montgomery were even torch-bearers for Reagan, and even the liberal opposition to Reagan would stand by him on foreign policy matters (exceptions being Harkin, Kennedy, Kerry (who served in Vietnam)).
Trump gets nothing but hatred and contempt from today's Democrats. Not only that, but Trump's supporters get assaulted, their property vandalized, and have their livelihoods threatened because they support Trump.
Because I live in Conservative Texas (not Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, or El intercepted-Paso), I don't have to worry about gun-grabbing, flag-burning babykillers threatening me. However, I worry about the rest of our nation.
I don't doubt it. I just want specific ammo when talking to the haters.

For many reasons...but one big one is can you imagine our country had Hillary become President????? We were so close to disaster. God truly exercised His mercy and grace towards this country.
Trump is the perfect man for this time in US. A minority socialist movement is being slowed down. I am not an expert, buy most people I meet are not looking for free anything. It is the globalist intent on imploding our way of life, our institutions and replace it with a European ( Germany ) form of government.

I love Trump. I do want an important thing to happen because he promised it.
The swamp monsters have not paid any price for their wrongdoing. In fact, they have been allowed to gain rather than lose.
This corruption going on with no law applied to the criminals, destroys this country and is unfair to the citizens that people in DC on the Democrat side break the law and never pay for breaking the law.
This is unacceptable. I know what POTUS is up against, but something has to be done.
I recently made Texas my home. I am prying the disaffected conservatives from places like OC come here to offset the blues. But I fear you are right, the creeping virus of socialism is obvious and I fear for the future
Yes, the TX suburban counties are moving at a rapid pace to the left, and I don’t know how we stop it.
Absolutely, true, how long can Midland, San Angelo, and Tyler, and rural counties offset the liberalism of the large TX cities? The answer is that they can’t. Demographics is destiny, not just for IL but look at WA and OR too.
I am thankful of President Trump as well. We need to find his replacement in 2024.
