Sad how many people here use "fascist" as an adjective meaning "bad".

Fascism, at its heart, is about suborning the individual and his/her needs, wants, and desires to the state. It is the antithesis of the inherent individual liberty that our Declaration of Independence and Constitution enumerate and protect. It is as horrific as Communism, its collectivist doppelganger, and is the definition of "bad."

I came to the conclusion a few years ago that the United States had morphed in to a Fascist state over the last 80 years.

The difference between Fascism and Communism is that Fascism allows you the illusion of private property while the state has nearly complete control of your property.

We have slowly evolved in to that model of society. Through the growth of the regulatory bodies of the government and crony capitalism the US has moved in to the Fascist end of the economic spectrum.

Finally, with the advancing restrictions on free speech in the government and private sector the metamorphosis is complete. We are a Fascist State in all but name.

We have socialized medicine, social security, eugenics (through amniocentesis and abortion), government control of the means of production (regulations and taxes on just about everything)

All we have left is our illusions of freedom.
