I imagine Trump would pardon him before he left office.
Life in prison would not be appropriate for Manafort. If I were the President I would wait for the sentence, then commute to time served plus one year.
Since the tax case against Manafort was a case that the FBI initially passed on years ago, I think this can be successfully argued as a political prosecution and thereby a full and complete pardon should be issued.
Mueller will keep trying to kill Manafort until he wont sit up for the beatings anymore.

As others have said, the last thing Mueller wants is to go to trial. If that happens, his and his staff’s conduct in the investigation and prosecution (including possible subornation of perjury) is subject to scrutiny in an open court. I’m sure he doesn’t want to risk that. Whatever their own past shortcomings, Corsi and Stone are heroic in calling Mueller’s bluff and refusing to tell the falsehoods Mueller wants to hear.
