House Democrats Plan Push to Criminalize Private Gun Sales

House Democrats plan to introduce legislation criminalizing private gun sales once the new Congress is in session.

Mother Jones reports that Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) met with gun control groups that included the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Everytown for Gun Safety, the Center for American Progress, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, and Gabby Giffords’ group. He asked them what they wanted, and a bill to criminalize private gun sales was on their wish list.

So Thompson will sponsor legislation requiring a background check before someone may buy a gun from his neighbor, a co-worker to get a background check before buying a gun from a co-worker, and so forth. The bill will go so far as to require a son to get a background check before a father can give him a gun as a gift.

Well it's a Good Thing, Martha, that I've never bought or sold a gun from a private party, then! *Rolleyes*

Whatever, Nanny State. Every DAY you push MILLIONS of productive, tax-paying, law-abiding Patriots further underground...much to your eventual peril. ;)

Of course, this is going no where. It's just a cheap election stunt for the Commie faithful.

Yep - it's their version of the House GOPe "repeal Obamacare" votes, while Reid ran the Senate.

I doubt it will ever make it to the floor for a vote. Too many new members from districts Trump won who ran as supposedly pro-2A. They won’t want to have to vote on it because it’s lose-lose for them. Either they alienate their base or the swing voters who elected them. And Pelosi knows that and doesn’t want to lose the House again in 2020, so she’ll keep it from a floor vote.

Liberal Policies are succeeding because Democrats Harvest Votes, own the Media, own the Education System and they run Washington D.C. Citizens owning Guns has done nothing to stop them.

Correct.

What these policies do is show they can spit on the Constitution and force us to say we admire them for it.

It is all about showing they have the power to do what they want, that the Constitution is meaningless. That statement is more important to them than the actual guns.

They know guns will always be available for crime. They are too easy to make.

They want to make them illegal to show they are in charge and we have no ability to limit their power in any way. No matter what the Constitution says.

Would it be too much to ask the RINOcrats to push to criminalize being a Demonicrat?

To what end? Even if they were successful, what would it solve? This is what is wrong with democratic solutions to the gun problem. A law stopping me from buying a gun from my next door neighbor does only one thing. It causes me aggrevation in that the maneuvers I would have to go through to execute this transaction would just be an aggrevation to me. That seems to be what the democrats and anti-gunners are after, not the safety of the people.

As far as I’m concerned, the democrats frauded the election results.

So I’m under ZERO obligation to comply with or obey ANYTHING they try to pass.

Aside from the fact that my 2nd Amendment right is non-negotiable in the first place...

“Citizens owning Guns has done nothing to stop them.”

Ain’t that the truth. There’s a schoolboard in every community in America. How is it possible that leftists have taken over the schools? Easy answer - so-called “conservatives” sit on their fat, useless butts and refuse to attend schoolboard meetings to guide education policies in their communities.

Two questions every Politician should be asked.

1. What parts of the United States Constitution do you disagree with?

2. If their answer is anything but “I have no disagreement with any part of the United States Constitution”, ask them how they can swear Allegiance to a document they disagree with?

Of course the one thing I would like every Politician to explain is what the phrase “Shall Not Be Infringed” means.

1. What parts of the United States Constitution do you disagree with?

I did a variation of that with Senator Jon Kyle.

I asked him what he was going to do to uphold the Constitution, as the Lautenberg amendment was a clear violation of the ban on ex-post-facto laws in the Constitution.

He said it wasn't his job!

It was the Supreme Court's job to determine if a law was Constitutional or not, not his!

I reminded him he took an oath to defend and protect the Constitution.

If he lets others decide what the Constitution means, he is not upholding his oath, IMHO.

Correction, House Democrats Plan Push to Criminalize Private Gun Sales transfers. No, you won't be able to transfer a firearm to a family member without a check and appropriate fee. Should your spouse defend herself with your firearm, is that an issue? I don't know, trust your local prosecutor. This has nothing to do with your family member having a criminal record or other dis-qualifiers. That's already a crime in most, likely all, states as well as federally in most instances.

Short version, if your spouse or child is a felon, don't provide them a firearm. That's already illegal. Private sale, sell to a felon, that's a crime. Already.
