John Stossel’s Anti-Socialism Video Age Restricted by YouTube

Libertarian TV personality and former ABC reporter John Stossel says Youtube placed age restrictions on a video he published about socialism. The restrictions were later removed, but the fact they occurred is part of a trend that concerns conservatives and free speech advocates.

Stossel wrote at Townhall on Dec. 5, that Google informed that morning via email that it wouldn’t allow his "Socialism Leads to Violence" video to be viewed by young people. In his column, Stossel wondered whether this video restriction was the case of oversensitive algorithms or of big tech bias.

Both are possible. His video, hosted by Gloria Alvarez includes footage of devastation after a rocket hits a city, as well as footage featuring riots, starving Venezuelans eating garbage, and a sprinkling of profanity.

So it is possible an overzealous algorithm might have flagged this video. But there is a generally a distinction, between graphic violence or disturbing imagery shown for its own sake versus showing historical violence as a necessary tool in education — and Stossel clearly intended to educate about the effects of socialism.

However, it is also possible the content was censored due to its political views.

We all need to remind ourselves of what totalitarians look and sound like. It has not been that long ago that Hitler was God-like. His is a perfect study of totalitarianism and the parallels between him and the American left today are stark and in our faces through political correctness. It is time to turn to our neighbors, our friends, and our face to face communications in our communities through our associations to spread the news and to decide what kind of nation we want, for the censorship which is coming full force through big tech is going to remove our influence and push the most unnatural kinds of thought and behavior any of us can imagine upon our youth and our nation, through force. No one will be allowed to speak against the travesties which are coming, even genocide. This is how it begins. They are trying to remove every enjoyable emotion enjoyed by normal people from being expressed. For example, Christmas music which has been popular from before most of us were born. Christmas for many of us without our music would be very sad. ABC and others have made a list of our music which offends them. “Baby, It’s Cold Outside; It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas (Promotes boy toys and girl toys..not allowed in the world of the left); Santa, Baby (expresses a woman’s desire for a man); All I Want For Christmas Is You.” (Again, a woman loving a man) I think you probably have figured out what is inciting the hate for our music. They all embody human expressions of love and, yes, desire between men and women, which the left hates. “Hate eventually corrodes the vessel which contains it.” Worth remembering.

I’m not so sure. We get to watch the implosion of the EU. The riots in Paris are directly due to unemployable migrants that need welfare and the raising of taxes on all the working class to fund it.

The left has two main ideas that are completely economically incompatible:

- Global warming solutions include less people on the earth, we need lower birth rates
- Socialism and all the never ending social programs can’t be paid for with a shrinking population

I don’t believe they see the contradiction. This is France on steroids because the only population is that is increasing is the one that is unemployable.
