Residents of Boulder, Colorado who refuse to comply with a state order to “certify” their so-called assault rifles this month could face fines, jail and confiscation of their firearms.

Following through on an “assault weapons” ban passed in May, the Boulder city council is requiring residents who already owned prohibited rifles, pistols, and shotguns to certify them with the police by December 27 or face repercussions, according to the Denver Post.

The sale or possession of assault weapons, high-capacity magazines and bump stocks was banned earlier this year and weapons already owned by Boulder residents were grandfathered in, allowing until the end of the year for a certificate to be obtained.

What is considered a "high capacity magazine"?

More than zero rounds.

Quite frankly I hope they defy the orders and execute any government official attempting to violate their 2a rights through these uncomstitutional ordinances.

And I hope they string up all the politicians that are idiotic enough to have voted for them.

This socialistmtotalitarian crap no one voted for needs to be stopped and reversed. This is getting old and dire.

I’ve lived in Colorado for over 40 years but I always knew better than to allow myself and my guns to reside in Boulder.

Western Slope rules.

I hope the Boulder City Council in their wisdom has budgeted a substantial sum of taxpayer dollars to defend their insanity and they ultimately get their as#es waxed when it gets to the SC.

That’s ugly and uncalled for, just like dissing soldiers fighting a war you disagree with, as the Left does.

Police officers on the street take orders, and have no say.

We fight such things in court, not against the LE officers, most of whom who probably disagree with this law.

County Sheriffs can be a different story. 54 of them (out of 64 counties) told Hickenlooper they wouldn’t enforce his similar law on high-capacity mags.

The LE guys on the street can’t do that. Hopefully this law will be challenged in court, or maybe it already has, I don’t know.

For now, anyway.

Yes, except the taxpayers will be the ones footing their bills. Government NEVER has to eat their mistakes -— WE do!

“Remember when living out west was awesome?”...…….

As a matter of fact I DO remember, having lived on Colo. Springs for a period of time back in the mid to late 70’s. It WAS a pretty nice place to live UNTIL, repeat UNTIL the California liberals started to move in by the thousands, bringing the same “baggage” they thought they left in California to a once pretty nice place to live, but NOT any more. All Colorado is now is an eastern suburb of California with Bolder being the worst.

Police officers on the street take orders, and have no say.

That excuse didn't work for the Nazis after WWII ended, and it won't work for anyone else "just following orders."

[[Residents of Boulder, Colorado who refuse to comply with a state order to “certify” their so-called assault rifles this month could face fines, jail and confiscation of their firearms.]]

It’s happening in states like NY- police are arresting people they find with unregistered ‘assault’ rifles (or rather civilian rifles falsely deemed ‘assault’ rifles by people ignorant of facts)

[[I still remember the 1962 Democratic Promise of...”WE ONLY want to register your handguns! Rifles and shotguns will not be affected!”

Then they came for the rifles.]]

Donald Trump should make this fact a key part of his reelection bid-

[[How was that ‘grandfathered-in’??]]

They are even changing the meaning of the word grandfathered-

If they ever come for mine (note all were lost last year in a tragic boating accident over the Laurentian Trench) .... IF I had anything to confiscate... I can guarantee one thing...those weapons... when they finally got possession... would be warmer than ME.

Violations to our constitutional rights has begun in earnest by the left now that states have outlawed ‘assault rifles’ the Term ‘assault rifles’ has given the left their in to confiscate and outlaw our constitutionally protected firearms

This is just the beginning folks- the left have succeeded in thwarting the constitution and violating our rights in the name of ‘public safety’ and they will NOT stop at their false ‘assault rifle’ effort- they WILL be going after any repeating gun in the not too distant future- in the name of ‘public safety’ or as NY put it ‘imminent need’

[[The Tyrant delivers as much tyranny as the People take.]]

That is precisely what they are doing- pushing pushing pushing- seeing how much the public will take- A maryland man was just murdered by the state for not giving up his ‘assault weapon’- police went to his home to confiscate them, and he stood his ground

Home Resident Killed by Maryland Police Trying Confiscate His Guns

https://www.ammoland.com/2018/11/home-owner-killed-maryland-police-trying-confiscate-guns/#axzz5Z1V6fr3w

“Anne Arundel County, Maryland – -(AmmoLand.com)- Foxbaltimore.com is reporting that a Maryland resident was killed by police as they tried to enforce a “Red Flag Gun Confiscation Order” at 5:17 am in the morning on Monday, November 5th, 2018”

Sadly, this incident will not be enough to get the states to back off- single incidents like this will continue happening, but won’t be ‘big enough news’ for the people to get outraged enough to start civil action against the state, ie lawsuits, to get the states to stop murdering people for simply undersizing their second amendment rights

[[How do the solons in Boulder know who owns what? There’s no registration law in CO, to the best of my knowledge.]]

The issue is not outright door to door confiscation- the issue is now that anyone pulled over, or investigated, being found with a banned rifle, will now be a felon and unable to ever own a gun again- It will be a case by case thing instead of outright massive door to door confiscation
