When he was a baby, He was very rich.
He had a lot of gold.
His parents immediately became wealthy overnight.

Matthew 2:11. “Opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.”

This Jesus was poor doesn`t jive with the narratives of the Apostles at all. -
Who keeps saying Jesuswas a poor carpenter when he was born right into gold?
This is where the saying “from rags to riches’ originates.
What happened to the gold? Did the parents spend it all or invest it or what?
Tell us please.

Joseph used it to bribe the border guards to look the other way so as to not report them to Herod, which would have resulted in Mary and Joseph's immediate arrest and the infant's execution.

Joseph used the rest to pawn in exchange for carpentry tools so that the family could survive in Egypt among the Diaspora Jews in Alexandria for the two years until Herod died.

It could very well be that the gold and other valuables they brought was enough for to finance the wise mens trip. Kind of like opening up your travel wallet and giving half to someone you love. No need to assume it was enough to make one wealthy.
It may have been enough to get Jesus to Egypt where the statement that God called His son out of Egypt (both Israel and His only begotten son)would be finally completely accomplished.
