Correction:
...Our national and state policies must be toughened up.
Yes, I’m sure it will.
. . . which I think is good for us. What sells politically in California almost by definition doesn’t sell most of the rest of the country.
Excellent post D1...You’re dead on the mark.
Probably to get some electoral votes tallied for the farthest left loon running. Got to support the socialist extremist and push for them to get the convention nod to lose to President Trump.
Thank Jazusamo.
I think they are trying to get Kamala Harris momentum with a big win in the early going.
I think you are correct. Kampala has no chance. She’s running for VP, IMO. I suspect given the cost and size of the state the other candidates won’t even fight that battle. She will win a walk over.
Republicans: Manifest Destiny
CA has the most electoral votes. Their primary was so late in the process that it didn’t affect the outcome. Now with the new date, CA will be at the forefront.
In a few election cycles, Russia will have a more fair election system.
Do you mean 50 primaries, one in each state...?
Only a few candidates will be able afford to seriously campaign in California. This will narrow the field considerably.
> It completely changes the dynamics of party nominations. <
I think you’re right. The advantage is now to the bosses, and to the big-money insiders. Folks like Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders won’t have a chance.
Is that a good thing? Only if you like each party’s version of the status quo.
Hmm... I seem to remember that the Republican party requires Super Tuesday primary states to divide delegates proportionately. Also, I think South Carolina and Florida lost half their delegates to the convention when they moved their primaries up, which means that California could lose a lot of clout in the final delegate counts.
I wondered in a post earlier if this move by CA (now being fully Dem controlled) was really just to put the brakes on a Bernie Sanders, and not so much about the Republican side of the equation.
This will likely give an advantage to the most Left-Wing candidates, as opposed to establishment Democrats. California has always been meaningless in Presidential primaries, because each party’s candidate has been established by then. Now, that Leftist cesspool will have great influence in picking the Democrats’ nominee. Ironically, California’s action will help President Trump get reelected; this is not a Far Left country.
The jungle primary law doesn't apply to Presidential elections; there will be separate Democratic and Republican primaries for President.
Yes, I guess I could have worded that one better!
Yes, won’t that help the nation...
While that is true, all of California’s electoral votes will go to the Democratic candidate.
