White House will back down on demand for border wall funding to avert government shutdown

The White House wants to avoid a partial government shutdown and has found other ways to get the border wall President Trump is demanding, spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Tuesday.

Sanders’ comments come four days before large portions of the federal government will begin shutting down unless Congress and Trump act first.

Trump has been demanding $5 billion from Congress for his border wall, which Democrats refuse to give.

But Sanders told Fox News Channel: “We have other ways that we can get to that $5 billion.”

“At the end of the day we don’t want to shut down the government, we want to shut down the border,” Sanders said.

Sanders said the White House was exploring other funding sources and believed it could be legally done.

There’s never going to be a border wall.

I couldn't care less whether or not the govt shuts down.

Just build the freaking wall.

If it can be built without shutting down the govt, fine.

21 trillion plus in debt is not just because of those working for the government, it is primarily due to the number of ridicules “programs” they have that do nothing but shovel money out the door. They run on auto pilot when the government is not even there. The only thing that sometimes stops spending for a day or two is when they run out of authority to print more debt.

As far as the wall goes, this is the waterloo for any potential to save the country. They commie bastards along with the socialists and anti US crowd won. I hope it comes back to bite them in the future but unfortunately it will be after I am gone from the planet.

I think it’s quite clear that none of them want a wall.

I don’t need them on record.

I need a wall.

Get the money wherever Hussein got the $150 billion for Iran. I don’t recall a big fight in Congress getting approval for paying a country who hates America billions of dollars. There must be some way of getting $24 billion easily.

A federal judge will stop it in one second flat.

I do not trust the military to carry out orders to fortify the border.

**************

Nor do I. The House Armed Services Committee will soon be run by Democrats. The Pentagon will be swayed to do what is in its interests.

I totally despise bastards like Piglosi and Schmucky Shoomer. There never would have been a United States if the country had been filled with freeloading, commie bastards like them back in the 1700s.

They are not the problem. POTUS was flying solo here. A POTUS without a party. That there was never a discharge petition filed against AWOL Ryan is all you need to know. It’s all beltway theater and we are being played.

I keep hearing a lot about crowd funding gaining steam. I’d give my share if it gets it done. Trump is NOT stupid. He will get the wall done.

If he can get the money some other way, he should have done this BEFORE promising to shut down the government. This makes it appear that he’s afraid to shut the government down, which he should not be. Shut it down, find the funding, then start it up again. How long would the government have to be shut down to save $24 billion? Probably not long.

Trump is completely unwilling to engage the useless GOP. I realize his son is in legal jeopardy but if he isn’t willing to fight that fight maybe it is best for him to not run again in 2020. First time I’ve had that thought.

It may come sooner than you think in the form of an economic calamity of historic proportions. Socialism has failed no matter where is has been tried. Our economy is a fragile thing and we are already in extreme debt. Great national pain is on its way.

“We have other ways that we can get to that $5 billion.” “What a let down if true.” IOW: I read the title, not the article.

No. I read the article. And what I read was "We won't make shutting down the government part of our negotiations and since we can't get the money in the way that we're legally supposed to get it then maybe, might, probably, possibly we can get it another way."

That's disappointing.

Um, the last I checked, the Republicans still own the House. What’s the problem?

***************

That IN ITSELF is a problem. The GOP congress is a total farce.

Yep. We’ve had one stinking pile of garbage omnibus bill after another. There is a real pattern developing here with Trump. He kicks the can down the road like a seasoned beltway operator.
