Trump administration officially bans bump stocks

The Trump administration is officially banning bump-fire stocks, senior Justice Department officials told CNN Tuesday.

Under a new federal rule, those who possess the devices, commonly known as bump stocks, will get 90 days to turn them in from the date that the final rule is published in the federal register, which is likely Friday, the officials said.

Bump stocks gained national attention last year after a gunman in Las Vegas rigged his weapons with the devices to fire on concertgoers, killing 58 people. President Donald Trump vowed to outlaw the devices soon after the tragedy, and some lawmakers on Capitol Hill urged him to back a permanent legislative fix.

But opposition from lawmakers and the National Rifle Association ultimately made a regulatory change the only realistic path forward to accomplishing the President's goal.

Fingers should be outlawed, or perhaps triggers?

Don’t laugh. Nothing is out of bounds for the left as long as they own the fingers and the triggers.

It would seem that the first sentence of Article IV, Section 1 of the US Constitution applies.

Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

>> Practically no one will turn them in.

The couple of times I used a friend’s, I was very unimpressed, so I don’t know why serious owners were buying them.

With that said, I expect more than a few owners will claim they were stolen from their trucks or were accidentally dropped into a lake or pond.

"Practically no one will turn them in."

And practically no one ever owned one and I bet 99% of gun owners never even heard of them until about a year ago anyway.

Overall, non-news, no big deal. Any argument about automatic weapons should focus on the laws that ban them, not tricks people try to circumvent those laws.

To the voting masses, this is brilliance.

Bump stocks are like sex toys compared to real women.

Is he King now?

I think you're onto something. Where is the NRA in all of this? Has anyone heard a peep from them? They'd go crazy if Obama had done this but it's an inside job and that's ok.

But opposition from lawmakers and the National Rifle Association ultimately made a regulatory change the only realistic path forward to accomplishing the President's goal.

For once, the unelected bureaucrats aren't to blame. The ATF told Obama multiple times that the NFA doesn't authorize them to ban bump stocks through regulations.

This comes straight from the top. This is happening because the President insisted. Don't let Trump off the hook.

This will cause many otherwise law abiding American citizens to become felons by default. Next thing likely to harm Americans is the new bill to allow violent and career thugs to be released from prison early and many newly minted criminals to not be sent to prison when Trump signs the pending Prison Sentencing guideline reform legislation and reportedly costing tax payers an additional $850,000,000 yearly.

Is Trump trying to knock himself out of the next election? I for one am having to reevaluate just how much I can continue to support this President with his growing penchant for supporting liberal positions and causes.

99% of the world had never heard of the Sudetenland, either, but it doesn't change the fact that appeasement doesn't work.

We have gone from “Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings” to “Every time a nut commits Murder using a Gun we lose our God Given Rights”.

Almost like it's all been set up to do just that. ;o)

He is officially a one term president.

Perhaps he already knows it and this helps to explain his bizarre liberal action here. This is if he even makes it to end of his first term un-indicted or un-impeached.

He's doing something so illegal even the Obama Administration refrained from doing it. That's not nothing.

Bingo.
