Mike Flynn Unexpectedly Seeks Delay in Sentencing
WSJ ^ | 12/18/2018 | Byron Tau

A federal judge lambasted former national security adviser Mike Flynn in court Tuesday, threatening to upend a proposed agreement between him and prosecutors that he should receive a lenient sentence after his extensive cooperation with investigators.

“I’m not hiding my disgust—my disdain—for this criminal offense,” said U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan. He questioned whether Mr. Flynn had truly accepted responsibility for his crimes, including lying to FBI agents, and suggested he might require incarceration, despite prosecutors’ contention that Mr. Flynn deserves no jail time.

Judge Sullivan seemed especially troubled by Mr. Flynn’s lobbying work for Turkish interests and his attempts to undermine the foreign policy of the Obama administration during the weeks between Election Day 2016 and President Trump’s inauguration. Mr. Flynn wasn’t charged with crimes for those actions.

“All along, you were an unregistered agent of a foreign country while serving as the national security adviser to the president of the United States,” said Judge Sullivan, who was appointed by President Clinton and has a history of expressing himself vividly in court. “Arguably that undermines everything this flag over here stands for. Arguably you sold your country out.”

Three more months! All part of keeping the narrative in the news.

Sadly, we've been in a civil war for a long time, but only one side is making gains while the other continues to play nice. I used to worry what kind of life we would leave behind for our children, but now I fear it's going to affect me far earlier than expected.

I’s say his own administration did plenty of undermining on its own.

I don’t understand the delay given DJT will issue a pardon.

I give us less than five years. Probably a lot less.

I think the big news next year will be the implosion of Obamacare, among other things.

“...lobbying work for Turkish interests...”

Nothing to do at all with President Trump.

Looks like the judge was going to sentence Flynn to jail time if Flynn wanted a sentence today. So, Flynn had no choice but to accept the 90 day delay.

Flynn cannot assume a Trump pardon.

Disappointed in the general today. In fact, that’s an understatement. The judge opened the proceedings by indicating he had serious doubts about Flynn’s guilt stating he did not want to sentence an innocent man. He then gave the general every opening to fight this. Instead Flynn clung Mueller’s deal. The judge even scoffed at the SC rep stating that Flynn could have violated the Logan Act and made the SC team admit that was the only possible actual crime here besides the lie [entrapment]. Still Flynn clung to Mueller’s deal.

PT will be fine. People here need to calm down. The Democrats are going to overreach in a huge way next year. PT is set up well.

"Mr. Flynn wasn’t charged with crimes for those actions."

If Flynn wasn't charged with any of those, why did the Judge even bring it up in the court room? It has nothing to do with what he's charged with.

Then the judge backtracked. Oops, judge had the dates wrong, says he.

Kind of like the 302s.

Didn’t the judge just retract most of the statements quoted in the article?

I have to agree with you. I don’t understand Flynn’s deal. He’s just sitting there letting Mueller walk all over him (and thus Trump) seemingly unwilling to put up any sort of fight, even as the judge is begging him to do so.
