Treatment for dementia is in sight after the Australian federal government announced $10 million funding for a study that has been able to fully reverse dementia in mice, with clinical trials on humans set to begin late 2019.

The pioneering technique was developed in 2015 at the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), said a research body at the University of Queensland (UQ). Researchers used a noninvasive technique that employs scanning ultrasound to clear out toxic buildups in the brain that are the hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease, a common form of dementia.

There may be hope for Nancy Pelosi after all.

But seriously, this sounds like an important, positive news story out of Australia.

Nancy is a hopeless case. She and the morons who keep reelecting her don’t have an actual brain to begin with.

Sounds like lithotripsy for brain plaque.

I hope it works for humans. At least mice have very good news.

Fascinating. If the results are real, this is most important. I’m guessing that it addresses one cause or set of causes and is not a panacea, but still wow!

Horse crap, I don’t buy it...do they ask the mice what they know before and after? If a mouse moves around more confidently or quickly after, how do they know if it is cognitive related?

Sounds like climate change to me.

Encouraging.

Not being critical, just curious. How do the researchers obtain informed consent from patients diagnosed with dementia?

Someone with an early diagnosis would still be competent.

Someone in the later stages would have a legal guardian who could provide consent.

At least mice have very good news.

We can cure all kinds of things in mice. They should be the healthiest animals on the planet at this point.

I just was looking up the meaning of "dememtia" on GOOGLE. Here is what I found

________

The 7 Stages of Dementia

•Memory.

•Communication and speech.

•Focus and concentration.

•Reasoning and judgment.

•Visual perception

****

I guess someone there has a little dementia. Two of the 7 are missing.

I hear you. I am skeptical of these things mostly always, but I thought I'd post it this morning.

After all the latest sick news, I thought we might need a hopeful note.

Bringing back the memories of liberals in congress is like forcing us as voters to be parents of children going through the terrible two’s again.

Western Civilization continues to lead the world into the light, even in its decadent phase. Its foundation is TRUTH and LIBERTY, both of which are scorned and under attack by the forces of decadence.

Pray that the Trump Revolution halts and reverses the decay of Western Civilization. That's what the Trump Revolution is all about. That is President Trump's hope, prayer, and objective.

A cure for dementia is an appropriate metaphor for a cure for decadence, and Western Civilization holds the hope and the promise of a cure for both.

From the article: “The technology temporarily opens the blood-brain-barrier to remove toxic plaques from the brain and has successfully reversed Alzheimer’s symptoms and restored memory function in animal models,”

What does "opens the blood-brain-barrier" mean here anyone?
