The Los Angeles and New York police departments are poking some fun at their perceived rivalry and wading into the hotly contested debate: Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?
It began Monday when the NYPD tweeted it had been working with its Los Angeles counterpart to protect Christmas since Hans Grubers 1988 attack on Nakatomi Plaza. It included the hashtag YesItsAChristmasMovie.
On this Christmas Eve, wed like to acknowledge our partners at @LAPDHQ who have been working with us to protect Christmas since Hans Grubers 1988 attack on Nakatomi Plaza. #DetectiveJohnMclean #YesItsAChristmasMovie pic.twitter.com/qOEgD1Lqt3 NYPD NEWS (@NYPDnews) December 24, 2018
The debate over whether the Bruce Willis blockbuster is a Christmas movie has emerged in recent years.

Just watched the first three over again.
The fourth isn’t really part of the Die Hard franchise. They just tacked on the name to see if they could sell a few more tickets that way.
It is the number one Christmas movie.
This is probably the only movie our entire clan watches and enjoys after opening the gifts. From ages 6 to 76, this is it. Even my nephews and nieces love it. We even say “welcome to the party pal!” together LOL
Last weekend, a bunch of buddies from church went target shooting, had pizza and wings then watched Die Hard.
It’s not Christmas till Hand Gruber falls off the side of Nakatomi Plaza.
Saw it on the big screen at a TCM / Fathom classic screening.
About the only half watched stuff by choice the past couple of days were Streets of San Francisco and Untouchables reruns. Plus I saw a great documentary about the rise and fall of the AMC Pacer.
“Oh, the weather outside is frightful ...”
More like an “action movie”, SET...at Christmas time.
America is defined far more and enduringly so by those two cities (Hollywood, fashions, language, shrine to capitalism, literature, books, etc.) than by anything else anywhere in America. Those cities are the primary stations for the export of American culture to the world...
They’re having a Die Hard Marathon tomorrow. Read my tagline.
Can’t say I disagree.
There is a Comcast commercial full of holiday decorations, activities, and music. At one point the camera pans across the television, where the title “DIEHARD” is visible just for a moment.
It’s a great Christmas movie. So much better than “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Seen it enough for a while.
Plenty of Untouchables, Rockford, and Mannix reruns to tune out Christmas with.
Love, Actually: A Christmas movie?

Why not? I liked the film...It came out in 2003 and I watched it in the theater...15 years ago...I am really getting old now...
Alan Rickman was in LOVE, ACTUALLY and DIE HARD...He died a few years ago...
Correct and this is why they all want to immigrate here by any means they can find.
Invade the 3rd world with our culture means they invade us with their bodies.
