“World Hijab Day” urges all women to wear veils in solidarity with Islam

International Hijab Day has now launched its campaign for 2019. The movement urges all women to wear veils and post pictures on social media in solidarity with Muslims.

Since 2013, the International Hijab Day is organised. This year’s campaign targets everyone who uses social media.

Through the hashtag #FreeInHijab, the movement will show the world that no woman is oppressed or imprisoned in her veil, but that it is a choice of free will, the founder Nazma Khan explains.

Khan therefore urges all women, regardless of religious affiliation, background and ethnicity, to wear veils for 24 hours on 1 February to show solidarity with all Muslims.

According to the movement’s Facebook page, the day is also about introducing women to wearing a veil.

On Twitter they write that it is now time for “a flood in social media with the hashtag #FreeInHijab”.

According to the post, the campaign will “educate” those who label hijab as a symbol of oppression. Women have already begun to photograph themselves in veils, and post the pictures on social media along with the hashtag.

"We urge women to affirm that it is their own choice to wear a veil, to drive away all misconceptions," Khan says.

On the Internet, she has been accused of spreading political Islam. It is, however, something that she denies.

"There is no policy involved in our movement. It is only to inform that women with veils are treated poorly. It is only to enlighten," she claims.

As a counter-campaign, Muslim women who say no to wearing veils post videos of themselves without a veil. At the same time, women in for example Iran fight for their right to remove the veil, which is part of Islam’s oppression of women.

And when will there be a World Habit Day where all women wear nun habits in support of Catholicism?

Does it call for them to be treated as badly as women in Islamic countries as well?

This Hijab day would have some legitimacy if the possibility of #HijabFree days also existed where women who choose not to wear this symbol of oppression in countries such as Iran, could openly do so for even one day without being assaulted or imprisoned....

It will always be a sign of oppression if millions of women are killed, beaten or harassed or jailed if they refuse to wear it

Crikey! Didn’t they just have a day “over there” where they photographed their feet stepping on their hijabs?

Is it really “solidarity” if they do not get a you-know-what-ectomy?

No, of course not. That comes later. This is early stage "grooming."

This makes no sense at all.

They should be taking pictures of themselves without the veils to prove their point.

Why any woman who has a choice, would wear headgear, the purpose of which, its to cover the hair in order to keep from “inflaming men’s passion”, is beyond me.

World Shackles, and Slave Collars Day.

Also commemorating the submission of human individual rights to an inferior status.

I’m guessing most woman forced to wear a hijab, would rather NOT get her nose cut off, or worse.

Solidarity with Islam is not just the subordination of women to an inferior status.

It is acceptance of slavery as well.

Muhammad was a slave owner after all. Unlike the American Founding Fathers, Muhammad advocated expanding the institution of slavery. He probably contributed more toward the promotion of slavery than any other single human being in history.
