Super - as they say - “more than one way to skin a cat.”
They say the president doesn’t get much sleep and if he keeps coming up with these bright ideas, we don’t need him to waste time sleeping.. We need him on the job as it’s been neglected for far too many years! Pelosi and Schumer can look as smug as they want to for the cameras but I don’t believe for a minute they aren’t quaking in their shoes wondering what’s coming down on them next!
There was a time when a president could only reach the
people through print media, then FDR took to the radio,
then the media had a lock on it. This President is
again going direct to the people, and that scares the
bejeebers out of those people who thought they had it
under control and could bend the masses to their will.
I hope this President has still more surprises for them.

You are correct - total disrespect of the president and the people of this country...People need to know that probably the majority of the new ones being seated in this new congress are there for no other reason than to make trouble for the president. The people of this country and their constituents can go hang for all they care. Well, I’ll go along with the constituents hanging as they’re the ones who were stupid enough to vote for them...how do voters for Hank Johnson among others justify their votes?

No, the Times got it wrong.
It’s not that they didn’t want to hear it.
It’s that they didn’t want the public to hear it and make them look bad. Trump played them like a fiddle and they’re fit to be tied. LOL.
Considering that illegal immigration is tracking to be a polarizing topic this year and likely won’t change heading to the 2020 election, it’s the last thing they needed, but they forced that hand.
They can play it out to their heart’s content, but I fully-expect there to be heavy political fallout for the dems.
I always thought that was his strategy. He could say on the State of the Union address that he and his team tried to negotiate with the democrats about wall funding. He could say he invited them to attend a briefing about the current border situation. That’s why I think he won’t declare a national emergency until after the State of the Union address because tens of millions of people will be watching the State of the Union in the hope of hearing how the partial government shutdown will end.
