Malcolm honked twice as he sped away, driving 30 minutes back home to his parents’ house in Torrington, where he hanged himself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sparing untold numbers of children from a predator.
Happy ending.
“It’s not easy to be black, Jamaican, a Jehovah’s Witness and gay in Torrington, Connecticut,” said Allie Morrissey, a friend of Malcolm’s.. he had come to Bristol to meet someone younger, purportedly a 14-year-old boy “going on 15,” ...When Malcolm arrived, he found that there was no boy — there was only POPSquad. For the 126th time in two years, the group — an acronym for Prey on Predators — had catfished a man on the internet, posing as an underage teen on hookup apps and luring him into a meetup
IOW, he was a pedophile.
many law enforcement officers object to the groups and consider them dangerous vigilantes
Because cops running radar and taking doggies to elementary school is embarrassingly ineffective 'police work.'
Malmstrom was arrested in February and charged with assault, larceny and enticing a minor. He pleaded not guilty. At a December hearing, a prosecutor told the judge the state was no longer willing to pursue the case, and the charges were dropped. Malmstrom’s lawyer, David Kamins, told NBC News that the state noted in remarks to the judge that Erdmann had been uncooperative. The state's attorney declined to comment on the case.
State of Connecticut, protectin' the Kiddie Diddlers.
Trying to deal with the homosex crowd outside of a serious effort to do it from a holy framework (read: Romans 13) is likely — nay guaranteed — to slip and fall. It’ll feed an already widespread sympathy movement.
Technically, I have a hard time believing that what is described here is legal. That’s the problem. If Connecticut legalized catfishing as a form of citizens arrest that would be another matter. They also don’t know who they might catch — it might be an anti-catfisher next time and we’ll see a gun massacre.
Throughout recorded history, vigilante justice has generally spring up when the actual law either (a)refuses to do its job or (b)takes the side of the criminal. Sometimes there is a combination of the two in play.
While I don't necessarily condone vigilante justice, I understand it and how best to curtail it.
[ Long article about the increase in various amateur investigative and quasi-vigilante organizations and their rising popularity on social media. ]
According to Hollyweird vigilantism is a good thing right? Crime drama Movies from the mid 80 till now....
The reason this sort of thing us picking up steam is due to the government using law enforcement as “revenue collection” agents and harassing “joe citizen” for a speeding ticket and using civil asset forfeiture seizure and structuring laws to steal from hard working small business owners and seniors.
Can’t say I blame the spirit of the vigilante in a era of state law enforcement “effective anarchy” and self interest.
Yeah, today I was sitting around worrying about female predators.’
“It wasn’t even people our age,” added Marielle Franco, 20, another friend. “It was like people my mom’s age.”
Do people Marielle's age think trolling the internet for underage sex partners is okay?
Honestly, I don't want to know.
What a load of crap though. The headline implied something other than " he hanged himself."
I don’t know if it’s legal. Entrapment is trying to lure an otherwise law abiding citizen into committing a crime which would not have occurred without the actions of the police agent-provocateur. In this instance, the target was not lured into a crime.
Queer baiting is an old fashioned name for the “sport” of coming on to a homosexual man, and then having a group of confederates waiting at the proposed trysting place to beat the snot out of him. Clearly a crime.
Steven Kohm, a cultural criminologist at the University of Winnipeg.
aka a lefty
“Criminal justice used to be emotional and participatory,” Kohm said. “Over the last 100 years, it’s become mostly hidden and dominated by professionals.
Professionals like Jim Comey? Jim Clapper? Loretta Lynch? Janet Reno?
People are yearning to reconnect with the punitive emotional core of the justice system.
Not really. We'd just like to the see the law applied equally and for the most dangerous among us to get the bulk of the police's time rather than the other way round.
Kohm linked the hunters to the popularity of internet sleuthing, at a time of deep mistrust in authority. It appears to be the same impulse that fueled Qanon, "pizzagate" and other popular conspiracy theories obsessively “investigated” by online groups.
Ah, it's the old nuts-and-sluts defense, a favorite of the Clintons. Those are internet message boards. These are live pedophiles caught on video. Big difference unless you're an ivory tower type attempting to conflate the two
“It’s a mob-justice vigilante mentality
And who were the vigilantes? Everyday people who saw police corruption and inaction and decided that 'law enforcement' wasn't fit for purpose. Today is no different.
Ah yes! The American dream. A car, a house, 2.1 children, white picket fence.........and buggering underage boys you preyed upon on the Internet.
The POPsquads should check into the author of this article. They should also look at the cops who are so incensed about “vigilanteism”.
