Phoenix police on Saturday were investigating reports of a sexual assault after a woman who has been hospitalized in a vegetative state for the past decade gave birth.

The woman, who was incapacitated in a drowning incident, was a patient at Hacienda Healthcare when she went into labor on Dec. 29 and delivered a baby boy, according to local media. No one knew she was pregnant and healthcare staff were initially unsure why she was moaning, the reports said.

"This matter is currently under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department," Sergeant Tommy Thompson told Reuters when asked about the media reports.

Take samples from all current male employees, and search for any that have left employment within the last 9 months.

The culprit is probably self-identifying as a transgender woman since the unexpected birth.

there is still a ways to go there; successful cases using familial dna and public dna databases are still extremely rare.

The probable cause is that one of them is a rapist. Fact is when they ask for voluntarily submitting to the test most will respond....then you get a warrant for the few who don't!!

This may have only become a news story because she gave birth. i.e. they knew she was pregnant.

your theory of probable cause is destroyed by the fact that at least 299 of them (if not all 300) are absolutely not the rapist -- which is why I phrased it the way I did.

The woman could be overweight in which case it might be hard to figure know for sure what is going on inside her.

“Hold it right there everybody! This 350lb lady is now at 356. Bring in the gynecologists. She’s got to be preggers.”

Those poor LNA’s have got enough to do without trying to decide what’s up with that.

Wow, Combat_Liberalism -

You have a lot of angst in your world, today. I can deal with that; simply takes another sip of my Citrus Green Tea. LOL

It is highly unlikely a woman who is comatose only gained pounds towards the end of her pregnancy. So that, my dear, is a very large and stinky false herring.

The female human body handles a certain way when it’s laid down, shifted, and in general, moved around during it’s care, especially if the patient is comatose.

The weight of the baby is not the largest indication; the body mass would be noticeable. That is, unless the alleged caregivers (I really don’t feel they can be safely called caregivers) are deliberately looking at the human being as a ‘thing,’ ‘non-human in nature,’ ‘trash only to be profited from,’ and such. I trust I may have covered all the appropriate check-off boxes.

My sister was literally in her last month, just about 8 delivery days out of one of her sons and the baby turned. It was at that point you could see when she was standing the birthing was really near. She had to go out and buy 7 sets of clothing for her job as she was an Executive Secretary at the time, so she relayed the incident with irony. That said, I can assure you, laying down, it was extremely evident she was pregnant, especially when the baby was moving.

Now, you want to get a bit nastier and say that perhaps because the mother was 356 pounds the baby may have been a very lazy baby, go ahead. You want to say the baby never moved? Even when mom was being bathed/cleaned? Personally, my boys jumped like crazy when I showered. Now, I’m hoping they actually gave this poor woman half-way decent cleanings. I sure wouldn’t want to wager anything important on that fact, though.

So, yes. I calmly believe those involved in her care need to be jailed.

No problem. Not a bit.

The proper question, I would hazard, is why *you* don’t seem to be affected by a woman being raped, and impregnated, and no one seem to notice.....

Odd. Just really odd.

Cuban leaf,

I agree. With the degradation of the standards of morals in this country, it is likely this is happening in many more nursing homes than people want to imagine, let alone have to admit.

Nursing homes, both private and government are all about protecting their employees because they are actually trying to avoid lawsuits. And many states have vested interests in not investiaging cases as some of their heaviest donors could be hit with fines against those companies.

The frightening thought? Had they caught the pregnancy earlier, they very well could have had an abortion quietly done (money does talk) and no outside the Nursing Staff would be the wiser.

Sigh.

If I were the parents of family of the woman, I’d adopt the child as humanly fast as possible. Then using DNA test for the father and have him jailed on as many charges as possible.

And, yes, still have those involved with her care jailed.

You conveniently ignored that I pointed out there will be no need to get a warrant for most of them...they will voluntarily submit to avoid unnecessary suspicion. the few left will be handled by police questioning and then a warrant!!!
