Ocasio-Cortez didn’t get a seat on the powerful tax writing committee she sought to push her progressive agenda of Medicare for All, free college tuition and a green new deal. Instead, the New York slot on the House Ways and Means went to a moderate Democrat, Long Island Rep. Tom Suozzi, a former CPA, attorney and county executive. Suozzi will assume the committee seat of Rep. Joe Crowley, the Queens Democrat Ocasio-Cortez defeated last year in a stunning upset.
Ocasio-Cortez sought the spot (which is usually off limits to freshman reps) with the backing of progressive groups that pushed for a slate of fresh-faced candidates to earn posh assignments.
Michigan Rep. Somali Muslim, Rashida Tlaib, made a play for Appropriations, but she too was passed over.

I think this is an issue of seniority more than ideology. The pollical parties are about ideology. But Congress is like a union shop; seniority counts more than ideology.
I’d like to know if the posts went to more senior people or, simply, less...er...crazy people.
Also, I think the Democratic leadership is both threatened by the uber-Left and they realize that the new firebrands like AOC will not play well with the, I’m going to say, “more moderate,” Democrats who constitute the party’s majority.
It will be interesting if the new crazy-Left continues to attack their own party. When the communists take over a country, the first thing they do is execute the socialists. To the Bolsheviks, the enemy wasn’t capitalism, it was the Mensheviks. There isn’t a lot of room on the left for compromise. It’s their way or the execution wall.

The interesting thing about the Communists, like Bernie, is, the longer they are “in the system” the more they perpetuate, “the system.” Bernie has three luxury houses. How’s that for a Communist? By the time the new firebrands get their seniority, they will hardly be recognizable to their constituents. True, they will still spout the ideology, but they will do so from the top of a pile of money and privilege. Oh, the irony...it BURNS!
