Conservatives sure are afraid of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. They don’t like that she danced in college, they’re in an uproar over an old high school nickname — some are even spreading a false rumor about a nude photo.
The Republican, mostly male obsession with the 29-year-old Bronx native is more than run-of-the-mill misogyny; it’s existential panic. Because in addition to the young Democratic Socialist standing for (reasonable) policies that conservatives find terrifying, Ocasio-Cortez represents a vision of the future of the United States — a future that’s no longer centered around old white men.
The newest class of political representatives are more diverse than ever. Forty-two women were sworn into Congress this year. The freshman class also inducted 24 people of color, 23 of whom are Democrats.
Ocasio-Cortez — who is telegenic, talented, and unabashedly left — embodies a shift in power that terrifies the right. That’s why the sustained attack on the youngest woman ever elected to Congress is so very specific: making up sexualized rumors, calling her a “girl,” or referring to her as Sandy (I have particular ire for men to use nicknames as a way to belittle women). It is all meant to discredit and diminish her bona fides.
But this isn’t just about the politician herself. As Adam Serwer noted this week, the animus towards Ocasio-Cortez is part of the racist backlash that we saw in the 2016 presidential election. “More than simply a leftist to be opposed, Ocasio-Cortez has joined Barack Obama as a focus of the very same fear and anger that elected Trump in the first place,” he wrote.

Now that's is an excellent point! If they are so confident in their vision of the future, they should be certain they will sweep aside Donald Trump and all his followers.
The snowflakes love to label observations that someone is stupid, ignorant, whiny, entitled, self-absorbed, or otherwise sub-adult bad behavior as “fear”.
I don't think there's any doubt about this. If you criticize Obama you're racist. If you criticize Hillary you are "anti-female." Standard operating procedure, IMHO.
It's distraction used to avoid a debate they cannot win. And it's working quite well for the progressives.

I don’t think she’s quite dumber than a sack of hammers, but naive, rather. Maybe provincial. Someone who thought their comfy rich neighborhood was the whole world.
I agree. She is completely unqualified for that or any other political position,yet she was placed there, much like Obama when he entered congress. She doesn’t need to be smart, in fact the dumber the better for them. She is the conduit that her socialist masters will use to deliver their poison ideology to the naive mass. She looks nonthreatening, innocent, and stupid. The perfect con. All she needs to do is do what the puppet masters want, like her green energy plan. She will vote on legislation as they wish, never understanding anything passing before her. She will be the perfect tool.

Where did a thoroughly wet-behind-the-ears 29 year old bartender even get the idea to remake the entire US energy infrastructure? It’s preposterous on the face of it. There is no doubt somebody is pulling her strings. She’s a photogenic mouthpiece that resonates with the dumb kids.
Too bad they couldn’t find a more articulate person (even though I HAVE heard her described as “articulate”).
This is a total Obama Replay 15 years after he burst on the national scene. He’s run his course and they need a groomed replacement.
I believe everything they do is carefully planned.
Consider the origin of the Mueller fiasco.
But, I think we have a president who is smarter than they are.
