Barr says he would 'not carry out' president's order to fire Mueller if lacking good cause

William Barr, President Trump's pick to serve as his next attorney general, said he would not fire special counsel Robert Mueller if President Trump ordered him to do so without good cause.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Conn.), who asked Barr about how he would respond, tied his question to Watergate scandal when the prosecutor investing Watergate resigned instead of following then-President Richard Nixon's order for him to fire the special counsel investigating the matter.

"Most famously when directed by president Nixon to fire the special counsel, the prosecutor investigating watergate, Richard Nixon resigned, as we all know. If those directions were to fire Mueller, would you follow Richard Nixon's example and resign instead?" Coons asked Barr.

"Assuming no good cause," the lawmaker added.

"I would not carry out that instruction," Barr told Coons.

Barr said Robert Mueller was “an excellent choice” for the special counsel to investigate Russian collusion. Smelling anything yet??

Mueller has nothing, Barr knows it. It will be over soon.

No executive branch employee has any legitimate excuse for refusing to comply with a presidential directive unless that directive is unconstitutional. Ethics, regardless whether personal or professional, does not meet that threshold. If you refuse a directive from POTUS without qualms about its constitutionality, you yourself should expect to be fired.

We may not like the answer, but it was an honest one.

Can you imagine "wing man" Eric Holder refusing to do the bidding of Obama? I can't.

The Rats don't have any ethics to abide by.

There’s no reason to fire if there’s no bad cause. We all know the ruse of the Mueller scam investigation as the insurance policy in the “Russia Collusion Hoax.”

One way or another; it’s all coming out.

“Will we have to wait two years to find out?”

Trump doesn’t have two years to find out if Barr is a keeper. Barr’s appointment will have to stand until the 2020 election. That’s why his appointment is crucial and I have no real confidence that he will stand behind the President. And if he does not, it’s really going to be touch and go for Trump to be re-elected.

I personally don’t think that Mueller should be fired; just neuter him.

Barr said Robert Mueller was “an excellent choice” for the special counsel to investigate Russian collusion.

The very fact that Trump turned him down for a job the DAY before he was put in that role suggests that he would have had a grudge against Trump from DAY ONE. For Barr to deny that possibility is just willful blindness.

For once, I have to hope the Democrats succeed in derailing this nomination. We need a fighter in there ON OUR SIDE, not another damn swamp creature full of his own importance.

<<< “ Good Cause to Fire Mueller: His “investigation” is based on a Fraud that he was part of. “ >>>

If there is a justifiable place for a functioning Inspector General, he will be announcing the same conclusion. How he arrives at it will be interesting, but it is surely coming.

Too much is known of the FISA fraud, as well as the Fraudulent Frame-up itself, of a sitting president.

Checks and balances on the JD/FBI during and following Obama’s regime were cast aside. Lindsay Graham addressed that in the nomination hearing.

This is absurd. Barr answers to the President. PDJT says jump and Barr says, ‘how high?’

We’re farked.

“This had better be a classic case of bait and switch, or I’m really going to have to wonder why on earth, after making the colossal mistake of putting that geriatric asshole Sessions in there, Trump would turn around and make ANOTHER colossal mistake and put THIS guy in there - because he certainly doesn’t seem to be playing for Team Truth.”

He has complete fargin IDIOTS as legal advisors(Jay Sekulow, etc). Couple that with the rinos and neverTrumpers in the senate(See linda graham) and here we are.

Trump should’ve appointed a special counsel himself right after mueller, sessions, and RR launched their special counsel coup.

I’m not optimistic about anything anymore.

I agree. The fact that Barr is dancing around with politically correct answers like ‘not following PDJT orders’ means were beyond farked. Barr just did enormous damage to the office of the presidency with that answer.

WTF is going on here?

For all you moronic never-Trumpers, he has not said anything that should give a reasonable person alarm. He is merely getting through the stupid libtard charade.

Reality: This conformation hearing is just more theater. The dems want this guy like breath bc of his DC establishment up bringing. He’ll be confirmed, no question. And Justice for the treason going on in DC will not be rendered. It’s the old Golden Rule and it’s just how the world works.

“This Barr jerk is a bunghole buddy of that freak Mueller, so why was he even considered for the AG’s job?”

Because aside from SCOTUS our President’s picks have been atrocious. Not only did he not fire the in place Obama folks spread all across the Government but then he hires more deep state garbage. He does this to himself
