Kraft opens ‘free’ grocery store for unpaid federal workers

Kraft Heinz Co. is offering a helping hand to federal workers who have been without pay amid the longest government shutdown in U.S. history by offering them unlimited free Kraft food products.

The food giant announced Tuesday that it is opening a pop-up grocery store in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday to help workers who are struggling to make ends meet.

Called “Kraft Now Pay Later,” it will allow federal workers to stock up on the company’s staples such its famous mac and cheese mix and other items for free.

The only caveat is that the Chicago-based food maker wants workers who can to pay it forward by donating to their favorite charity or help someone in need once their back pay comes through.

“During the government shutdown, parents should not have to worry about putting dinner on the table because they aren’t receiving a paycheck,” Sergio Eleuterio, head of marketing for Kraft, said in statement.

The pop-up location, however, will only be open through Sunday.

Thinking the same thing

20 years of plant closings all over the country, nobody cared about those people

But if you are some dork who move paper from bin A to bin B, everyone wants to make sure you are comfortable.

Strange

For 19 years, the treasonous scumbags of both parties have been bringing in H1B, L1, and other visa workers to displace educated IT and engineering people by the millions.

I don't recall anyone providing free food for any of those displaced American citizens during all those years.

F'em all.

Well, they can push papers in favor of Kraft in some future matter. Quid pro quo.

This is just a phony marketing campaign now. They want to take advantage of the Shutdown. Next Gillette will give away free razors that they can’t sell.

The left is taking care of their unskilled, permanent dependent underclass that always vote 'RAT and live their parasitic lives at the expense of the rest of society.

Yup, over 2 decades, there have been far more IT professionals displaced due to the cheap labor express and immigration—with many immigrants overstaying their Visas...
Where was Kraft? Where was the concern on part of media and pols as well?

Nor have they helped homeless vets...

What are they going to do, if certain people, not federal employees, hear of this and go in demanding their free foods????

Federal workers are not 'unpaid'. Their pay has been suspended and they can get immediate NO INTEREST loans at federal credit unions.

Of note - benefits to illegals is not suspended.

So, they will get backpay when shut down is over (a very long free paid vacation) and free groceries while on the paid vacation. What a deal.

I hope they wind up being permanently furloughed.

Excellent question, Dilbert San Diego. It was the first question my little beady mind thought of...

If they refuse the folks who are not Federal workers, I would LOVE to see them get hit with a Discrimination lawsuit as only the Democrat based lawyers can do!

Popcorn time!

Why doesnt Kraft docthis for every worker who loses their jobs?

Fedgov employees have some of the sweetest deals when it comes to job security, back pay, very difficult to actually fire, pensions, salaries, salary increase schedules,...

Where is Kraft for the workers who have have far worse deals?
