Some Renters Are Already Facing Eviction, Thanks To The Shutdown
HuffPost ^

Some renters in Arkansas are already facing eviction, thanks to the partial government shutdown.

A property manager told tenants at properties in Alma and several other towns that the shutdown has cut off a federal rental assistance program that covers a portion of their rent.

“Until the government opens again, you are responsible for ALL of your rental amount,” the letter said, threatening eviction if tenants don’t pay up by the 20th.

The shutdown is creating financial stress for hundreds of thousands of furloughed federal workers. If the shutdown continues, low-income renters could also feel the sting.

Tens of thousands of low-income households relying on the federal government to help them pay rent could lose that assistance if the shutdown persists. Many of those households include seniors and people with disabilities.

Oh no! Staunch democrat voters will be even more ticked at Trump.

Meanwhile, why the hell is the FedGov helping people with rent? That is a local thing.

I have no sympathy for federal workers. They make a ton of money more at their jobs than the equivalent jobs in the private sector, and their benefit plans are top-notch. They need to wake up to the fact that they represent the federal government. If they can’t take the heat for that, then they need to go work for somebody else.

The article deliberately conflates low-income housing assistance recipients with federal workers. The assistees are facing eviction if they cannot pay their whole bill, but the federal workers are only facing “difficulty”, which is (naturally) not defined.

The Dims aren’t moved by the “shutdown” sob-stories. Ask them why they’ve suddenly reversed course on funding and building a border wall.

Why don’t we hear all this pissin’ and moanin’ from the freaks in the “media” when NON GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES lose THEIR jobs and “face eviction”? The “media” still sucks. The most worthless people on the planet. A waste of air and space.

So everyone knows Wells Fargo’s reputation is in the toilet, and deservedly so....

However, the shutdown offers a GREAT opportunity for them and other BIG national banks.... Should they be smart enough to capitalize on it.

Offer immediate loans, at marginal rates, to furloughed and other unpaid federal workers, equal to their paychecks.... No other paperwork proof to get the loan than you are currently employed and furloughed... Replace their paychecks with a check from you, with the promise of repayment when the government reopens....

And don’t tell me they couldn’t find the money, if Wells, Citi and the other large Banks decided to do this, they could.. yes there are logistical issues here, but it could be done.

Wells Fargo in particular could use the good Press... and it would get you possible customers for life from folks who pretty much have some of the most steady job security in the nation.

The original or the modern version?

A property manager told tenants at properties in Alma

Ain't gonna happen......Too much paperwork and legal processes involved. Then two months later, after you get them out of the property, he'll have to clean the house, advertise for new tenants, screen them.......etc.

/They can go out and get real jobs.

Some people on Section 8 are elderly, others are handicapped. Personally, I don’t want to see some 80 yr old out on the sidewalk.

We can ask people to be responsible and get jobs if they are able, and we can show compassion to those who can’t.

On the other side of the coin, landlords still have to pay taxes, maintenance, etc etc without funds coming in to do so. Next would be tax liens or foreclosure on those properties.
