Border rancher: 'We’ve found prayer rugs out here. It’s unreal'

LORDSBURG, N.M. — Ranchers and farmers near the U.S.-Mexico border have been finding prayer rugs on their properties in recent months, according to one rancher who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation by human smugglers.

The mats are pieces of carpet that those of the Muslim faith kneel on as they worship during their unauthorized trek into and through the United States.

"There’s a lot of people coming in not just from Mexico," the rancher said. "People, the general public, just don’t get the terrorist threats of that. That’s what’s really scary. You don’t know what’s coming across. We’ve found prayer rugs out here. It’s unreal. It’s not just Mexican nationals that are coming across."

News flash folks: This has been going on for years! Middle Eastern governments and Islamic terrorist organizations have been using the Southwest Border to infiltrate the United States for at least 30 years. While most of those smuggled into the US are involved in material support, which includes a broad variety of criminal activity like drug trafficking and money laundering, we have always assumed that operators/jihadis are among them as well.

While I was still with the government in 1999, I took a helicopter tour of the border from Nogales, AZ, to the Naco/Douglas area. I asked the pilot to set down at several locations with an abundance of rubble. I found prayer rugs, Korans and other evidence that not all of the illegals were of Latin ancestry.

I have no doubt that the deluge of Invaders crossing our southern border illegally include radical islamists but I find this report a bit dubious.

Why would they en masse leave their prayer rugs there after dragging them halfway around the globe?

I’ve read enough reports from anonymous sources to fill this man’s lifetime quota.

Very, VERY odd to find prayer rugs abandoned. They roll them up. Terry take it with them. It’s a survival item. Why?

Why would they bother to lug in a prayer rug and Koran, and then drop these items in the desert?

And why leave them behind? The devout use them several times a day.

Very, VERY odd to find prayer rugs abandoned.

Also odd that they would ditch their Korans after carrying them thousands of miles to the US border.

You’ll have to figure that one out on your own.

So you don’t know how to identify them?

There are solutions to this problem - both government solutions and individual answers.

This is immoral. Those “poor” muslims having to cross such harsh terrain to break into our country.

Seriously? Apply a little critical thought.

You’re a jihadi in the United States illegally. A spotter for the coyote that smuggled you across the border spots some Border Patrol agents approaching, so you gather what you can, assuming you have the time. You’ve taken the effort to look like a Mexican, so you don’t want to get busted with a prayer rug or a Koran in your possession - both of which you can replace once you make contact with your transporter, who’s already inside the United States.
