Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will not attend scheduled talks in the upcoming weeks in Los Angeles and New York, following her surgery in December, after she missed Supreme Court arguments earlier this month, the event hosts said.
The 85-year-old justice was supposed to attend an event on January 29 at Los Angeles' Skirball Cultural Center. A long-planned conversation between Ginsburg and the financier and philanthropist David Rubenstein was scheduled for February 6, and the 92nd Street Y said Wednesday that it was working to reschedule the event.
"Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg regrets that she is unable to attend the talk with David Rubenstein at 92Y on February 6," an email from the 92nd Street Y said. "She is curtailing travel and focusing on her work while recuperating from recent surgery."

She probably had a version of ablation surgery done on her lung tumor, that gets you back at home within a day. They for sure didn’t remove a lobe of her lung, I know someone who underwent that and it was a month before she was on her feet and six months before she was back to baseline.
Recovery from ablation, whether RF or cryo, can take a while, a month or two. It’s not a sign that she’s sick, it could just be that it’s taking a while to bounce back. You can feel pretty fatigued for quite a while after the procedure.
Lung cancer is a tough way to go. Prayers for her comfort.

A friend of mine who had metastatic breast cancer was told the same thing.

It was reported they did take a lobe of her lung. Thorasic surgery of that type would be tough on a healthy person half her age. She’s very ill, recovery will be long and hard if it happens at all.
She’s dying. Her days are numbered but she’s trying to hold on as long as she can just to spite Trump.

They actually do become like family in many cases.
I saw one of Antonin Scalia’s sons speak, and he recounted the close relationship that Justices Scalia and Ginsburg shared.
Both were raised in New York City, and both served together on an appeals court, years before the Supreme Court, so they knew each other closely for a long time. Unlike most liberals, Ginsburg would energetically engage Scalia on the merits and reasoning of cases, so they routinely went back and forth in a rational, objective and respectful manner; that both seemed to enjoy more than most other judges. Justice Ginsburg said that Justice Scalia was one of only two people (the other being her husband) who could make her laugh out loud.
Their spouses got along very well together, and they had a regular tradition of family get togethers. Both shared a love of Opera, and attended Opera functions together. After Scalia passed, the Ginsburgs remained close and supportive of Scalia’s family, and Justice Ginsburg took exceptional time out to do the forward for his son’s book of Scalia’s speeches (Scalia Speaks), both in writing and for the audio version.
The media would have you believe that she is doing yoga and lifting weights. When in reality she has one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel.

Reportedly, the Supreme Court handles this internally, and gives its members wide latitude for recovery/accommodation.
