Trump plans to make Democrats an offer to end shutdown, not declare national emergency

President Donald Trump plans to offer Democrats another proposal to end the shutdown when he addresses the nation from the White House on Saturday afternoon -- what officials are describing as his third offer to end the shutdown, according to a senior administration official.

The official told CNN that Trump's idea is to put something on the table to get Democrats to engage with negotiations. Trump is not expected to back down from his demand for a border wall, but the plan will seek to entice Democrats by offering other concessions.

I’m hardly targeting your wage and livelihood destruction. I’m just realistic about what’s even achievable right now.

Yes you are you < expletive deleted >. H-1B needs to die! Kill it!

You egomaniac as such you have to keep on posting telling globalist lies.

It matters not if POTUS defends the southern border while he refuses to deal with treason throughout DC and the US courts.

Arguably, POTUS continues with hireling that know not USConstitution, but adherents of status quo. Those deeply versed in the babel of US college and rapt of delusion regarding what DC is, in relation to USAians. Unable to find a breach of contract with We-The-People in USConstitution, much less strength, to deal with it; if they found such. Seeing instead a district white-washed walls.

What I wrote (I looked it up). Pence would nominate a new VP. But according to the Constitution, BOTH the US Senate and House would have to vote to confirm, with a majority being necessary in each Chamber.

Yes. I read your post after I had already posted mine.

You’re right - if the majority of the House is needed to confirm any potential Pence VP choice, we’re never going to get it. On the other hand, I can’t see the RATS just sitting there refusing to vote for ANYONE Pence puts up as a candidate. It almost doesn’t matter, though, because if they succeed in getting rid of President Trump they’re going to have 50 million OTHER things to worry about than Pence’s VP choice.

We have to trust our President is going to find a way out of this mess by defeating these seditious bastards.

Dude, I AGREE with you that it should be eliminated. You seriously are not being very objective. If you read my comment history, you will see that I am anything but a globalist. But am I willing to keep H1Bs to eliminate a much larger issue that effects 20x+ as many people’s jobs + much bigger impact on our culture and drain on taxpayers via schools and medical? Yes.

But am I willing to keep H1Bs

Why would you be willing to do that? That is dastardly and despicable. And why do you constantly respond to me? Do you actually think that you will convince me you are really one of the "good guys". WELL THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

We have no choice but to trust that President Trump will get the border wall started. When that happens the dems have to come to the table, or President Trump could issue an EO to open the gov. It just feels like he's letting things slip away when (1) he speculated about the EO instead of doing it when DC legislators took their vacation, then a long weekend and (2) he announced he was going to get out of Syria instead of doing it. Now we've had mischief makers create a situation that exploits how illegal and unsavory our interference has become there.

It's good that he cancelled Witch Nancy's overseas adventure. It exploits that she has no desire to solve the impasse. I do hope President Trump takes control this afternoon and issues that EO, no "maybe later" or offers for it.

Because the option right now is to keep H1Bs and the 10-20 million illegals who came across the border or keep H1Bs and eliminate a huge chunk of the current and future illegals who come across the border. There is no chance at all of eliminating both at the moment. If we had kept the House, I’d say swing for the fences, but we didn’t. At least Trump is trying to significantly raise the min salary for H1B and make it much harder to qualify and there are other reforms that could be done to make H1B less attractive without eliminating it entirely.

Who has proposed that? That better not be true? I looked and can't find Trump saying that is the choice. Quit talking out of your butt.

Trump literally shut down the government over the 10-20 million problem. H1B has not been discussed at all during this time. And if he actually gets the wall and other immigration reform even for DACA and something else I’d be surprised. Throw in H1B elimination and you will lose the globalist GOP senators and congressman as well, and make Dems even less likely to deal. If Trump is also able to get H1B eliminated or reduced by 50% I’d be delighted

Back to DU with you then.
Does yanking the plane out from under Nancy’s nose when she’s on the charter bus to the airport sound like desperation? (Cue the “Oooh, you almost had it” memes.)

Agree it’s time to declare a national emergency at the border. It’s been an emergency for decades now. Lance the boil and start the healing of our sovereign nation. Begin the process to take back the United States of America for its people!

Increasing H1B would severely hurt Trump. Period. That program has cost Americans jobs. It’s whole purpose has been abused by corporations. There are even some staffing firms making money by using that program to help companies replace Americans with cheap foreign labor.

If Trump increases H1B he will lose a lot of voters.

No one has said anything about increasing H1Bs. I was stating that it would nearly impossible to eliminate them currently, though, politically.

No, wage growth for IT people and most other professionals. I’ve seen the payroll costs over the last 10 years for those positions skyrocket and Monster, etc frequently site several IT jobs as the fastest growing pay increase year after year. Granted, not IT jobs are equal and some types are more in demand than others. Also depends if you are willing to move or not. In my area, if you want to stay in Salisbury NC for example you won’t have much pricing power. Willing to move to Raleigh, Charlotte, Richmond or Atlanta? No problem.
