U.S.A. -(Ammoland.com)- On January 15, just a little before 5 p.m. Senator John Cornyn asked Attorney General nominee William P. Barr about his views on the Second Amendment. The question and answer were recorded as part of C-SPAN coverage of the nomination process.
The question and answer, with some more commentary by Senator Cornyn occur from about 4:56:33 to 5:00:04 on the C-SPAN timer. There is a transcript on the C-SPAN link, but it has a few errors, perhaps introduced by the automated computer transcription process.
For example, the transcript misses the first half of Senator Cornyn's opening sentence, where he says Mr. Barr, I want to talk about guns, I have created a more accurate transcript below. It can be checked by watching the video.
Starting about 4:56:33 on January 15, 2019 from c-span.org:
Senator John Cornyn from Texas:
Mr Barr, I want to talk about guns, and I want to talk about China in the five minutes we have together. Back in 1992 there was some discussion about your position on Congress' role when it comes to banning certain types of semi-automatic weapons, sometimes people call those assault weapons. But In the intervening years, the Supreme Court has now spoken, both in the Heller and McDonald cases, and recognized the Second Amendment confers an individual and fundamental right to bear arms.
Could you, sir, bring us up to date from your views in 1992, and how they were affected by Heller and McDonald, and what your views are now on the Second Amendment?

Only relevant if the Deep State stooge is being honest.
Deep State stooge is being honest.
Isn’t that contradictory?
Gee. A logical, common sense approach to the issue of so-called gun control. The meaning of the term mentally ill is going to be the next real battle ground. Some on the left consider being religious a type of madness. Does that mean we take guns from Christians?
For my part, the glaring hypocrisy is the white elephant called black on black murder that no one gives a shat about. Young blacks are cappin one another with 9s...AKs not so much. And then we move on to the even more nauseating topic of gun laws..Chicago anyone?
The Hitlerian left will not stop until our nation is irreparably dismantled and destroyed. Half the battle is won. Most people of good will are indifferent and painfully credulous. Theyve got their bread and circus. Unless the mass of these lukewarm moderates wakes up and takes a stand, when the hostiles move in it will be like clubbin baby seals.
Your tag line sounds very Germanic!
I forgot where I heard yesterday that Trump was having second thoughts about Barr because of his friendship with Mueller. Like no one told him about that before his selection? It tells me someone else is selecting and is not looking out for his...and our best interest. I would rather have someone else totally independent from the swamp.
Supposedly Churchill said it when criticized by his speech writer for ending sentences with prepositions
I have a simple, clear approach: if a person is too dangerous to be allowed to have a gun, then he is too dangerous to be free on the streets.
Courts should be able to convict people of being "a danger to themselves or others"-level of crazy, and put away. Until that point, they have full rights, including 2nd Amendment rights.
Until Trump signs some new anti-gun legislation for him to enforce, there’s not much to worry about Barr’s opinions.
This Ping List is for all things pertaining to the 2nd Amendment.
FReepmail me if you want to be added to or deleted from the list.

As someone said earlier, this guy has no power to legislate, but you should have concerns.
He enforces the law, even BAD law.
It appears he is not "a zealot" for the 2nd Amendment but does believe in its original intent.
I think Barr is not an issue, he is just tap dancing through the political kabuki theatre.
We should keep an eye on him, but political theatre gets tiresome
I reserve the right to not let you kill me.
It’s simple stupid.
Shhh, you are not allowed to say that. There isn’t a gun problem; there is a black male violence problem. They are a small subset of the population, but they are responsible for the most crime, including most murders. However, facts are racist.
“...he is just tap dancing through the political kabuki theatre.”
We will have to remember how many Republicans run as conservatives and vote as liberals.
These people rarely expose what is in their heart.
What he said made sense - the problem is that we no longer trust them to use proper due process when making some decisions.
Trust is greatly eroded in the U.S., and for good reason.
When criticized for occasionally ending a sentence on a preposition, Winston Churchill replied, “This is the type of errant pedantry up with which I will not put.
