Makes you understand why the Mexican government wants to export them to El Norte.

Evolution in Action!!!

An all too infrequent highspot. Meanwhile our culture continues to slope to lower levels. (And I am an optimist!)

> How stupid do you need to be to try and tap a pressurized pipeline? <

But it must work if done properly. Otherwise why would people be doing it over 40 times a day?

How is it that so many people apparently don’t know the old “stop, drop, and roll” routine when you’re on fire?

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador launched an offensive against fuel theft gangs drilling dangerous, illegal taps into pipelines an astounding 12,581 times in the first 10 months of 2018, an average of about 42 per day.

So 99.99% of the time (12,580/12,581), it works out just fine. And less than 0.01% of the time it leads to a horrible, horrible death.

Oh great, another mishap film we in the oil and gas sector will have to watch for about seven years.

I’m surprised it took so long for this thing to light off. The vapors coming off and blowing downwind were a time bomb looking for an ignition source. Not to mention the puddle of gasoline and fuel soaked people. I’m wondering if it wasn’t diesel or jet or some other distillate with a much higher flash point than gasoline.

So the pipeline was ruptured during the day, but did not explode until after dark.

How many hours between rupture and explosion? But the fuel kept flowing.

All those people jubilantly filling their jugs. They had no clue.

What a disfunctional country. Coming soon to a theater near you.

People run. It’s the natural response. You have to be told to drop and roll, and they might need to be knocked down and forced to roll.

This is the work of the Narco group, Los Zetas.

Narcos don’t just make money smuggling US$ billions of drugs into the US. They have diversified into extortion, human trafficking, and petroleum smuggling.

They either bribe or threaten oil workers to divert the pipe lines.

This is no small operation. It has been found that they have sold massive amounts of fuel even to Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission.

There is now a suit in the Southern District of Texas alleging that Shell, Marathon Oil, and ConocoPhillips has been colluding with Los Zetas to smuggle oil into the US.

The Narcos have also diversified into mineral exploration.

The narcos have gained control of many lithium mines in Sonora Mexico. Lithium is used in high performance batteries. Sonora has the World’s largest deposits of clay lithium.

So anyone driving a Tesla or using a cell phone may be indirectly funding The Narcos.

The break was made by the Narcos and used to fill large numbers of fuel tankers.

They did not recap the break.

The people saw the break and decided to take advantage of free gas. And they paid for it.

” I’m wondering if it wasn’t diesel or jet or some other distillate with a much higher flash point than gasoline.”

I didn’t watch it. Could you tell by the color of the containers the thieves were using?

I’ve heard of this happening but never in this hemisphere. Most often in Africa.
