Democrats lurch left on top policies as 2020 primary begins
Associated Press ^ | January 22, 2019 | Steve Peoples

Democratic presidential contender Julian Castro launched his campaign by pledging support for “Medicare for All,” free universal preschool, a large public investment in renewable energy and two years of free college for all Americans. That wasn’t enough for some of his party’s most liberal members. […]

Welcome to the 2020 presidential primary. Almost no policy is too liberal for Democrats fighting to win over their party’s base, which is demanding a presidential nominee dedicated to pursuing bold action on America’s most pressing challenges.

Among two dozen possible candidates, virtually all have embraced universal health care in one form or another. Some have rallied behind free college, job guarantee programs, a $15 minimum hourly wage and abolishing — or at least reconstituting — the federal agency that enforces immigration laws. While few have outlined detailed proposals to fund their priorities, most would generate new revenue by taxing the rich.

The leftward lurch on top policies carries risks. …

When the AP worries you’re running too far left,
you know the apocalypse is at hand.

Most people who support those policies are young.
All they have to do is wait a few years...

Democratic presidential contenders pimp the stupidest ideas.
Karl Marx wouldn’t even chance pimping such crazy notions.

Ever read the Ten Planks of Communism? That is exactly where they get it from.
  1. Abolition of property in land, and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
  2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
  3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
  4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
  5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
  6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.
  7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of wastelands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
  8. Equal liability of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
  9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.
  10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.
Look familiar?

Elimination of national borders is mentioned in the same chapter where these appear.

You must not spend a lot of time talking to Millenials.
I do. Most of them will buy what she is serving all day long. Be very afraid.

That goes back to the Bolsheviks too, and the Marxian concept of violent revolution.

The public demands universal “healthcare” and is going to reward the faction that gives it to them first with power for 50 years.

The status quo is unsustainable. Going back would involve repeal of Medicare, which is the root cause of the status quo. That’s not going to happen.

The best that can happen is NHS with a private free market. We can get that if we do it right now.

Wait until 2020 you will have private medicine made illegal.

Better get on it, things are moving very fast.

The public does not demand government healthcare.

And NHS, really?

I have been interacting with the public (sending doctor bills and overseeing hospital care) for forty-four years, and while my opinion about what the public wants may be wrong, it is not without basis.

As far as “NHS - really?”, yes, the only way to deliver free at the point of service hospital, surgical, nursing and physician services is through a centrally-controlled bureaucracy with a fixed annual budget.

Now, in the UK, the private sector (”Harley Street”) is small and unpopular. But it’s excellent, and functions with much greater freedom for doctors and patients than what we have here now.

A robust private sector in the US does not have to be small and it does not have to be unpopular. It just has to be not made illegal, and people have to be willing to pay for it.

In the November 1993 Hillarycare draft, it was illegal for a doctor to provide a “covered service” for a fee, with the penalty FIVE YEARS IN PRISON.

That’s what you are going to get if you let eighteen months of further Democrat agitation go on without a Republican National Health Care plan.

But, since the “donor community” has huge investments in the hospital-insurance-pharma iron triangle (who are the only people who actually LIKE the status quo), that is unlikely.

You’re advocating for government health care. Have a nice day.

“You’re advocating for government healthcare”

No, I would vote against it.

But it’s happening no matter how I would vote, and I’m pointing out that there are ways to do it that are less bad than other ways.

Milennials WILL jump on it in a second.

(Potential re-education camp guards, one and all.)

I don’t think Castro is eligible to
run for POTUS. His mother is the
daughter of an illegal immigrant.
Kamala Harris also is not eligible.
Her parents weren’t naturalized US
citizens until after she was born.

Then watch the winner pretend to shift back to the center after the primaries are over, for about four months until the election.

No it isn’t happening no matter how you’d vote. Claiming that it is is concern trolling.
