I don’t think the sarcasm tag is appropriate here. Democratic socialism has never been tried because it’s a unicorn. It looks pretty, but it doesn’t exist. I think the real problem is that socialism is the last dying stage of crony capitalism - we steal what we wan’t and the government is there to take care of all the people well stole from. It’s a stop gap measure to prevent the extremism that results from a real revolution e.g. Russian communism or the French terror.
